++++ Tiny Tim: His Adventures And Acquaintances Francis Horner
(author of Tiny Tim.)
This '80s album finds Tiny Tim recording in Nashville. With the
help of session players and backup singers, Tiny Tim winds his way
through his main love: American popular songs from the pre-WWII
era. Many of the selections have become so well known as to be
instant sing-alongs for people of a certain age. Mr. Tim embraces
these songs fully, free of irony, for the sturdy and memorable
songs they are. The backing is unobtrusive, letting the spotlight
stay squarely on the star (though the band seems to enjoy its
percussive punctuation in "Baby Face"). The version of "Tiptoe
Through the Tulips" included here is a remake of Tiny Tim's big hit
from the late '60s, the single that secured him a place in the
history of pop culture.
