Orville E. Dickerhoof was born before the Wright brothers flew their first airplane and lived to see a man walk on the moon. His own adventures began when he bought a Curtiss Jenny biplane in 1922 and restored it to flying condition. He barnstormed around the midwest in a variety of airplanes, offering rides and participating in aerial circus acts. When he wasn't flying, he worked on the railroad. During his aviation years, he survived a number of mishaps and crashes, and became acquainted with some of the most famous fliers of aviation's Golden Age. In his 90s, at the end of a full life, and still retaining a sharp memory, Dickerhoof related his memoirs to Tom Baker, who wrote them down and added some historical context to create this book. Photographs and letters from Dickerhoof's scrapbook help to illuminate life in rural and small-town America during the time when great locomotives thundered across the prairies and the first airplanes took to the sky.

Another adventure for everyone's favourite Time Lord. A may-day call to the Doctor (Tom Baker) and Sarah takes them to the outermost horizons of the Universe where they find a Morestran military expedition stranded on a remote planet. The Doctor has to battle an anti-matter monster, the unstable Morestran Commander Salamar, and scientist Professor Sorenson, who is transforming into a deadly Anti-man.

A mysterious light in the sky, an unnatural glow in the ocean and a thick fog bring terror to the lighthouse keepers of Fang Rock.

On the planet Tigella, the mysterious source of all power - the Dodecahedron - is failing. Zastor, the leader of the planet, decides to call on an old friend to help them. An old friend who travels the universe in a blue police box.

An alien pod discovered in the Antarctic takes over one of the scientists who found it. The Doctor (Tom Baker) and Sarah arrive too late; the scientist has already become a Krynoid, a carnivorous alien plant life. Although they manage to destroy the first Krynoid, a second pod is obtained by plant fanaticist Harrison Chase, who intends to nurture the creature to his own ends. The Doctor calls in UNIT to stop Chase before the Krynoid grows and destroys all animal life on the Earth.
