Memorias y Cuentos de Thomas Hascall Cole En el verano del ano 2011, para distraerme y para mejorar mi espanol, escribi 46 historias en mi segunda lengua. Nunca habia escrito tanto a menudo en espanol, pero me gustaba como salio cada una. Por eso, continue hasta que tuve suficientes para un libro pequeno. La inmensa mayoria de estas historias son memorias, pero hay tambien algunos cuentos graciosos que invente. Al empezar a redactar, aprendi de inmediato que un escritor de autobiografia tiene el desagradable sentido de que nada de importancia ha pasado en la vida cuando intenta escribir algo y nada se le ocurre. Escribir memorias le ensena lo que le importa en la vida. Una hojeada del indice y de algunas paginas mostrara al lector los temas que me importan a mi. Durante ese verano, yo habia estado platicando en espanol por medio de Skype cinco dias a la semana durante un ano y por eso tenia la oportunidad de estrenar lo que yo habia escrito con hablantes nativos de la lengua. Me enviaron muchos cuentos nicaraguenses y los lei con mucho interes. Sugirieron que escribiera algunos semejantes y por eso escribi dos historias cortas de ficcion. Para sorpresa mia a los nicaraguenses les gustaron y las he incluido en este tomo. Me consta que el lector facilmente puede distinguirlas de las memorias.
