It hasn’t been a great week for struggling actor Arnold Prinsloo. His
career has hit rock bottom, he’s about to be evicted from his cottage
in Melville, and worst of all, Zelda, the love of his life, has finally
run out of patience and left him.
But when Arnold is accused of murdering insurance billionaire JP
Mulder, his problems are only just starting.
Now, Arnold must tackle the greatest and most dangerous acting role of
his life: pretending to be a hard-boiled East Rand detective in a race
against time to clear his name, win back Zelda, and finally take off
these way-too-tight polyester pants.
The curtain is rising …
Solving the Mulderville Murder put a target on Arnold Prinsloo’s back. But after two weeks of hiding in the small Karoo town of Victoria, he’s reached his limit: if the choice is avoiding heavies back home in Johannesburg or spending one more day in the potpourri-scented spare room of his mother’s house, he’ll happily risk a beating.
When the beloved doyen of Victoria’s historical society is found murdered on the eve of the annual antique fair, Arnold is determined not to get involved. Mulderville might have made him a better and braver man, but he’s done playing detective. Besides, he’s more determined than ever to go home so that he can restart his life with Zelda and reboot his career with a Netflix series about the Mulderville case.
But when a second murder rocks the town, and Arnold’s family is drawn into the heart of the mystery, he is faced with a horrifying possibility: not only could the two murders be connected, but he might be responsible for both.
The triumphs, the heartbreaks, the glory, the controversies, the
heroes and the villains - South Africa's sporting history is one of
drama and greatness. Often it has been a drama acted out on a huge
international stage, sometimes only a handful of aficionados watch
from under umbrellas next to muddy fields. But wherever South
African have played, there has always been one spectator for whom
it was more important than a game - the sport writer. This is a
collection of South African sports writing.
A brutal murder. A masochistic killer. An ancient secret. A
beautiful policewoman. Lots of short sentences. When C.C. Langa -
Nobel Prize winner, physicist, symbologist, love-god - is called to
investigate a mysterious killing in the National Gallery in Cape
Town, he finds himself the primary target in a dark plot that will
change the course of history forever. Or at least change the course
of history until the next time the course of history is changed.
Perhaps in the sequel. It's a gripping race against time and purple
prose as Langa and his beautiful partner follow a trail of clues
through South Africa, their every move shadowed by a relentless
assassin with a family history of sunburn and a shadowy mastermind
known only as the Teacher. From the cutting edge of the art world
and Pierneef landscapes to the eternal splendour and romance of the
streets of Louis Trichardt, the glamour never stops as the actions
reaches boiling point. Are there secrets worth killing for? Can
Langa discover the shattering truth? How many roads must a man walk
down before he can say he's a man? Why do blurbs always ask
rhetorical questions?
