Combining expert knowledge, experience and reflections from senior
leaders to distil collective leadership experiences, this book
explores the realities of leadership at universities rather than
the imagined and often-unrealistic expectations and perceptions of
how leaders should act. This key text is an informed insider's
guide to leadership transitions that will assist talented
individuals in considering whether to apply for, how to prepare for
and how to take on the task of leading a university. The collection
of leadership experiences provided will help universities to be
more successful, students to have great educational experiences and
staff at all levels to have more-fulfilling working environments.
It will also consider how to avoid the emotional pain and suffering
that can arise when leaders find themselves poorly equipped,
unprepared, unable or unwilling to provide the sound and competent
leadership that universities deserve. Centred on the practice and
experience of leadership, this book will be a must-read for all new
and existing heads of universities. It will also provide useful
insights to those actively involved in the recruitment and
development of senior leaders, members of senior leadership teams
and those who hold governance roles in universities. Further
updates and details about the application of the ideas in the book
in practice can be found at www.leadershiptransitionsatthetop.com/.

Box set containing all three 'Stuart Little' movies, starring
Michael J. Fox as the loveable rodent. In 'Stuart Little' (2000),
when Mr and Mrs Little (Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis) visit an
orphanage to find a brother for their son George (Jonathan
Lipnicki) they come away with a charming talking mouse called
Stuart. After initial misgivings, George and Stuart begin to get on
famously, and everything seems to be going perfectly; but unknown
to the family, the neighbourhood cats have ganged together with the
sole intention of getting rid of Stuart. In 'Stuart Little 2'
(2002), feeling lonely in his adoptive home, Stuart is happy to
make a new friend in the form of the bird Margalo (voice of Melanie
Griffith), who crash-lands next to him when he is on his way home
from school. Margalo goes with Stuart to visit his family, but
after being coaxed by the bullying Falcon (voice of James Woods),
she is eventually persuaded to steal Mrs Little's (Davis) wedding
ring. When she subsequently disappears from the Little's home,
Stuart sets off on a daring rescue mission through the big city to
save her from Falcon's clutches. Finally, in 'Stuart Little 3'
(2005), school's out for the summer and the Littles are spending
their vacation at a beautiful lakeside cabin. Leading the way is
Stuart, who can't wait to become a Scout and spend his entire
vacation canoeing, hiking and being the outdoorsy little guy he
claims to be. But there is something lurking in the forest which
could spoil the fun.

Collection of four Tim Burton films. The stop-motion animated
musical 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' (1993), produced and
visualised by Tim Burton, is set in a parallel world where
different lands represent different holiday periods. Skeleton Jack
(voice of Chris Sarandon) from Halloween Town becomes converted to
Christmas and sets out to spread joy in the world. However, when
Jack's mission leads him to kidnap Santa (voice of Edward Ivory) it
becomes clear that he is not really in tune with the Yuletide
spirit. In 'Alice in Wonderland' (2010), based on the characters
from the Lewis Carroll classics 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'
and 'Through the Looking Glass', the 19-year-old Alice (Mia
Wasikowska) returns to the magical world of her childhood adventure
to reunite with her friends the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the White
Rabbit (Michael Sheen), Tweedledum and Tweedledee (both played by
Matt Lucas), the Dormouse (Barbara Windsor), the Caterpillar (Alan
Rickman) and the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry). Alice discovers her
true destiny as she joins forces with the colourful denizens of
Wonderland to overthrow the wicked Red Queen (Helena Bonham
Carter). 'Frankenweenie' (2012), Burton's black and white
stop-motion homage to Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein', is a remake of
his 1984 short of the same name. The story follows a young boy
called Victor (voice of Charlie Tahan), who harnesses the powers of
science to bring his beloved pet dog Sparky back to life - with
unexpected and alarming consequences. 'Ed Wood' (1994) is a biopic
of one of Hollywood's worst film directors. Setting up shop in
Tinseltown with plenty of enthusiasm but no discernible talent, Ed
Wood (Depp) is undeterred when his debut feature, cross-dressing
drama 'Glen Or Glenda' (in which he also stars) is a flop. He goes
on to make 'Bride of the Monster', also a commercial and creative
disaster, with ailing horror star Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau),
before embarking on his most grandiose scheme yet: 'Plan 9 from
Outer Space'...
