My wife is a magician, yesterday she turned our car into a tree. A big white horse walks into a pub. The barman says, "we have a drink named after you." The horse says, "what? Eric?" I said, "waiter, what's that in my soup?" he said, "I'd better call the boss, I can't tell one insect from another." I'm reading a book called "Sex Before 20." Personally I don't like audiences. I said, "it's serious, doctor, I've broken my arm in 20 places." He said, "well stop going to those places." I call my car flattery. It gets me knowwhere.
Written, directed and starring Eric Sykes as a workman whose individual aptitude is nil and along with his sidekick (Tommy Cooper) they are mutually chaotic, disorganised and magnets to disorder. Set with the task of laying the floorboards of a house they are faced with catastrophe when one of them uses the last plank as firewood and they are then forced to track down a spare plank. Although seemingly straightforward its anything but and makes for hysterical entertainment with Sykes as his finest.
A rare collection of the big, funny man's TV performances. Rarely seen before, this footage from his live television performances was uncovered after an extensive search of the Thames Television vaults.
A profile of be-fezed funnyman Tommy Cooper, who began his career as 'Trooper Cooper', entertaining servicemen during WWII. Famed for his deliberately appalling magic routines, Cooper's first TV break came with 'It's Magic' in 1952. Thereafter, the comedian made a string of successful series, cementing his reputation as a man who only had to walk on stage to make people laugh.
