To tackle the challenges of the road estimation task, many works employ a fusion of multiple sources. By that, a commonly made assumption is that the sources always are equally reliable. However, this assumption is inappropriate since each source has certain advantages and drawbacks depending on the operational scenarios. Therefore, Tuan Tran Nguyen proposes a novel concept by incorporating reliabilities into the multi-source fusion so that the road estimation task can alternately select only the most reliable sources. Thereby, the author estimates the reliability for each source online using classifiers trained with the sensor measurements, the past performance and the context. Using real data recordings, he shows via experimental results that the presented reliability-aware fusion increases the availability of automated driving up to 7 percentage points compared to the average fusion.About the Author: Tuan Tran Nguyen received the Master's degree in computer science and the Ph.D. degree from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, in 2013 and 2019, respectively. His research focuses on methods and architectures for reliability-based sensor fusion in intelligent vehicles.

This open access book explores the transformative experiences of participants in the University of Sydney's National Centre for Cultural Competence (NCCC) programs. The establishment of the NCCC was viewed as a critical point of departure for developing an institution-wide agenda of cultural competence. The NCCC's work since its inception reflects efforts to lay important foundations for cultural change at the University. With the ultimate aim of establishing cultural competence as an agent for transformational change and social justice education, the NCCC has steadily expanded its research and teaching work both within and beyond the University of Sydney. Further, it has developed foundational resources to support and encourage University staff to integrate cultural competence philosophy and pedagogy in their curricula, teaching and research. This includes the ability to engage meaningfully with the cultures, histories and contemporary issues in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The NCCC programs have been designed to encourage participants to learn about who they are and how they can positively impact the transformational change the University has begun. The book presents participants' reflections on their experiences at the organisational and personal level. Readers will gain insights into a range of topics including cultural competence, communities of practice, policy implementation, and transformative leadership at the interface between higher education and professional lives.

The financial crisis in 2008 has gone but its affection still left the EU a disaster behind for example: Greece with highest record government debt, Spain and Portugal with the alarm rate of unemployment and Italy with a red inflation. The German economy is however a good exception. Its industrialization has well developed and brought a positive GDP and a number of job to the labour market. This number of job has grown rapidly that created its own excess labour demand situation. It is now addressed as an serious issue, which will escalate in the next decade. Germany needs urgent additional manpower. Labour immigration is one of their best option. But lets not the immigration history repeating, like the Turkish labour immigrants in the BDR 1960s incidence or the mistreated Vietnamese guest workers in the GDR 1980s. A well-organized integration plan is also what it needs. Therefore I suggest the suitable approaches from the macro and micro aspects such as: combine the international economic relations (labour as main factor) with regional economic long term development (effective productivity as main purpose). Managing the cross culture issue is also very important: respecting each nation and recognizing each identity. The main purpose of this book is to prove that the labour immigration is the right solution for Germany and the right approaches.

Vietnamese refugees fleeing the fall of South Vietnam faced a paradox. The same guilt-ridden America that only reluctantly accepted them expected, and rewarded, expressions of gratitude for their rescue. Meanwhile, their status as refugees-as opposed to willing immigrants-profoundly influenced their cultural identity. Phuong Tran Nguyen examines the phenomenon of refugee nationalism among Vietnamese Americans in Southern California. Here, the residents of Little Saigon keep alive nostalgia for the old regime and, by extension, their claim to a lost statehood. Their refugee nationalism is less a refusal to assimilate than a mode of becoming, in essence, a distinct group of refugee Americans. Nguyen examines the factors that encouraged them to adopt this identity. His analysis also moves beyond the familiar rescue narrative to chart the intimate yet contentious relationship these Vietnamese Americans have with their adopted homeland. Nguyen sets their plight within the context of the Cold War, an era when Americans sought to atone for broken promises but also saw themselves as providing a sanctuary for people everywhere fleeing communism.
