With a Preface by Eugene N. Borza
The Norton edition of Ulrich Wilcken's distinguished biography has made available for almost three decades a classic study enhanced with a modern scholars notes, bibliography, and introduction to Alexander studies. Alexander the Great as an empire-conqueror continues to capture the imagination, but the spread of Greek civilization throughout the world was his greatest legacy. Wilcken's book captures Alexander's true achievements and influence.
besteht aus vier, Bd. II aus zwei TeilbAnden), die aufeinander
aufbauen, sich aber auch wechselseitig bedingen. Bd. I/1 enthAlt
Bd. I/3 behandelt die
I/4 die
Evangelien, die Apostelgeschichte, die Johannesbriefe, die
Johannesoffenbarung sowie die Entstehung des neutestamentlichen
Kanons.
In this critical story of scientific interpretation of the Bible
from the Enlightenment to the present it is stated: From the
beginning it was believed that reason precluded the existence of
the living God, who works wonderfully on people. A reasonable
"historical-critical" interpretation could only be about how Jesus
and the first Christians probably introduced themselves to God and
lived in faith in him. This book is intended to convince young
theologians that this whole way of "bible criticism" is based on
theological as well as historical prerequisites; and they should be
encouraged to take exegesis seriously for the reality of the God
proclaimed in the Bible.
