Umberto Saba (1883-1957) is one of the great Italian poets of the
twentieth century, as closely associated with his native city
Trieste as Joyce is with Dublin. He received a sparse education but
was writing distinctive poetry before he was twenty, ignoring the
modernist groups which dominated the day. He came at personal
themes in unexpected ways, using an unapologetically contemporary
idiom. He acquired an antiquarian bookshop which prospered for a
time, but his Jewish background placed him at risk with the rise of
Fascism. When the Germans took northern Italy in 1943, he and his
family went into hiding in Florence where they escaped detection
until the Allied liberation. National fame came late in his life.
100 Poems is the most extensive selection of his work so far
published in Great Britain. He emerges as one of the great European
writers of his time. The book features writing from every period of
his writing life. Patrick Worsnip's translations honour the poet's
use of traditional Italian forms while using appropriately
colloquial diction.
The mind is the "field" where Satan sows "seeds" of distrust,
unbelief and bitterness, which grow into "weeds" that affect the
daily life of a man. When the Word of God falls among them, it is
choked and fails to produce fruit (Matthew 13:24-30). The field
does not receive it, for the prayers of committed intercessors have
not cleared it. The mind is therefore the nerve centre the
spiritual enemy targets in his attempt to gain control of a man.
Any idea he accepts dens up in his memory and becomes a driving
force that binds him for life, unless someone pays the price
required to deliver him. You never deal with mere thinking
patterns, but with the power that is behind them. You are actually
facing well-entrenched and hidden spirits. No man can destroy the
power of an idea that has its origin from a supernatural source.
Only the power of God can deal with it and break its defences, and
that power can only be obtained by prayer and fasting. Hence the
title of this book: "Stronger than Darkness."
Men of great stature have always risen from the hardest situations
after proving their worth. Individuals of exceptional character
have always emerged victorious from the greatest tests. The most
admired personalities have grown only through the toughest
predicaments. The greatest eminence has always been earned through
an unbeatable faith. Heroes are solely found among those who have
won the fiercest battles. The giants can only be encountered among
the most brave. No muscle has ever grown strong without hard
training, and no nobility is ever found among those who love the
good life. No soft, weak, timid and undeserving people are
remembered in history, for they have done nothing to attract
admiration. Their name will never be mentioned. There is a law that
has no exceptions: Distinction comes at a proportionate cost. If
you refuse to pay it, you will be forgotten as worthless. Oblivion
will be your lot. But if you want to be an outstanding figure that
inspires, as God wants, a towering personality that impresses, a
brave man or woman that impacts generations and moves the world for
Christ, you ought to want to read this book. God is not honoured by
"rabbits" that run at every hint of danger, but by people that
learn to become fearless and unbeatable. This book is not for the
faint-hearted, nor is it a manual designed to entertain you. It is
designed to bring out of you the man or woman of real valour. If
you are after pleasure, you will never be a candidate for divine
greatness. Ponder carefully on the choice you make in the short
time you have: it has eternal consequences.
Like Gideon, you too have a mighty power hidden within that is
waiting to be put to good use and accomplish great things. It is
not a fanciful thought, but a legitimate one: you can achieve what
most people don't if you make a decision. As far as you are
concerned, the failures of Church leaders and Pastors in the West
are not bad news, for they offer you the perfect opportunity for
greatness. Neither you nor I can attain any eminence without the
failures of others, just as Moses could not have become a giant
without the difficult people of Israel he had delivered from Egypt.
Think also of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Elijah and the other
Prophets: none of them would have been great characters without the
sin of the people. This truth has never changed: without wrongdoing
there have never been giants. These were smart enough to take
advantage of every opportunity. As you look through the Bible, you
will notice that history repeats itself: great people rose only
during times of widespread rebellion and decadence. Are you willing
to respond in a time of moral disaster like ours? The opportunities
are here, right before your eyes, so long as you turn them to your
favour. God Himself calls you to do so, for your greatness brings
great honour to Him.
Times of affluence are invariably followed by widespread rebellion
to God's laws. History repeats itself, or is not history, and so
too does the conduct of all peoples. Rebellion is a serious matter,
and is invariably followed by decadence and eventual judgment. We
in the West are about to pay the price for our transgressions. But
God has made grace available to the rebels at the request of
someone who is unselfish enough to stand in His presence on their
behalf and take upon himself their sins. If you cry out for mercy
and change of heart, He will grant them, and many will be saved.
But greater sins generally require longer years of supplication,
during which you seem to receive no answer. If you don't expect
this, you may be discouraged and give up. But God is faithful, and
does not fail to answer, for He always prefers mercy to judgment.
The added benefit is that you, the intercessor, will grow in
stature and character by sheer persistence. God takes more notice
of your supplication than He does of any sin committed by anybody,
and does not allow the transgressor to be lost forever. Never say
that "it is the sinner's decision to go to hell" choose instead to
cry out to God till he makes the right decision
History is not history if it does not repeat itself in cycles.
History indicates over and over again that in times of affluence,
security and peace the people turn away from God and disobey His
laws. He then sends many servants to warn, and even threaten, the
rebels, but usually to no avail. They become stubborn and refuse to
turn back. Yet for that refusal His holy nature demands death,
unless unselfish people stand in the gap between a holy God and the
laughing fools. If no one does, judgement inexorably follows: God
raises ruthless people to carry out His verdict of destruction and
death. Endless mercy without judgement becomes foolishness, and God
is not a fool. We are living in such times of rebellion, and if an
army of committed intercessors does not rise right now, history
will repeat itself with all its horrors and scenes of death.
However, it is sad to note that, as Georg Hegel wrote, "History
constantly proves that man learns nothing from history." But for
those who are willing to learn from it, I have prepared a manual
that teaches all they need to know about intercession, so that they
may avert the coming disaster by prayer and fasting. Though the
task may seem impossible, we are dealing with a God for whom
nothing is impossible. He responds to the prayer of those who are
willing to pay any price to rescue the rebels from their
foolishness. He will convict them of sin and will remove from them
the heart of stone. Both history and the Bible also prove that
those who refuse to pray for them, will be overcome by the
judgement that is looming closer and closer. Those who have
understanding will perceive this truth, but those who don't will
remain blind till death wipes them out. You are now choosing
between life and death.
A great war rages between two kingdoms: hatred against love.
Wherever salvation reaches the people, there too Satan steps up the
most determined fight to oppose it through persecution, oppression,
mockery, deceit and confusion. Satan has several divisions in his
evil army, all of which have one thing in common: to fight God and
His grace. In that army there are Communists, Muslims, Buddhists,
Hindus, film and magazine producers, and many others. Though the
Gospel is conquering the earth at a rate faster than ever in
history, the old sections of the Church in the West are decaying
and are in danger of being overcome by the most aggressive enemy -
Islam. This is the time of its greatest weakness, and this fiercest
of all enemies is building up its forces in our midst with the
clear goal of obliterating it in the West as it did in the Middle
East, in Turkey and North Africa. As the kingdom of darkness fights
the Kingdom of Light, this confrontation can be observed throughout
the earth, and the victory over Lucifer's armies can only be
secured by prayer and fasting.
What do you do when you find yourself going through hard times?
What about when you have lost all hope of ever seeing the light
again? This book provides you with the only answer that comes from
the very mouth of God: He commands you to trust His wisdom and
perfect control of your situation, no matter how hard it may
appear. If you do, you will have peace and joy in the midst of what
before looked like as a dead end in your life.
In a world that falls apart only the intercessor can turn around
the tide of rising evil, destroy the power of wicked ideologies and
avert the coming judgment. God is merciful by nature and cannot
harbour in His Heart the desire to condemn anybody. Mercy can only
be unmerited, or it would not be mercy. It opposes condemnation,
dispels the firing squads, defeats judgment and overthrows the evil
rulers of this world. You can break both their power and the
counsel of their advisors from the moment you take your place
between God and them. Once you know that your prayer is inspired by
the Spirit, you won't fail to bring a much-needed conviction of sin
in the world. A true intercessor is he who makes his the sins of
others - however bad and numerous they are - and asks God's
forgiveness as if he were the only sinner. Find out more about it
in this book.
As there are laws that govern the transmission of physical
features, so too there are laws that ensure the transmission of
spiritual characteristics from generation to generation. Such
transmission is well documented in the Bible for the discerning
believer to see. These characteristics are what we can call the
"Spiritual DNA" that shows whose children we are. We inherit more
features from our father or from our mother, but both are
represented in us. We also inherit the blessing for their obedience
to God as well as the curse for their disobedience until we do
something about it and transmit in a modified form to our
descendants what we have inherited. As we discover how they work,
we learn how to break the power of inherited curses and turn them
into blessings.
inmerecida, si no no seria misericordia.
inmerecida, si no no seria misericordia.
