Control from seizing crucial information that could destroy all
sentient life, Commander Michael Burnham donned the "Red Angel"

out of harm's way. But something has gone terribly wrong, and
Burnham has somehow arrived in a place far different from anything
she could have imagined-more than nine hundred years out of her
time, with Discovery nowhere to be found, and where the mysterious
and cataclysmic event known as "the Burn" has utterly decimated
Starfleet and, with it, the United Federation of Planets. How then
can she possibly exist day-to-day in this strange place? What
worlds are out there waiting to be discovered? Do any remnants of
Starfleet and the Federation possibly endure? With more questions
than answers, Burnham must nevertheless forge new friendships and
new alliances if she hopes to survive this future long enough for
the Discovery crew to find her.... (TM), (R), & (c) 2021 CBS

It's the near future, and mankind has expanded its presence in
space. Maintaining law and order beyond Earth is the responsibility
of the International Space Police Force, known colloquially as the
Star Cops. Their leader is Commander Nathan Spring. There are no
Star Cops on Mars, and Nathan Spring intends to put that right. He
travels to the red planet hoping to rally the colonists' support
for setting up an ISPF office, but he faces resistance from those
who feel Mars has no need of police. Soon, though, Nathan and his
officers are involved in incidents of theft, violence and murder.
They may get the chance to prove they're needed, if they can get
through their investigations alive. Contains three stories: 2.1 The
New World by Andrew Smith. Nathan, Devis and Kenzy arrive on Mars
after a six-month journey from Earth. They've come to set up a Star
Cop base, but Mars is a very different environment from the one
they're used to on the moon. 2.2 The Shadow of This Red Rock by Una
McCormack. Nathan and Kenzy find themselves marooned in the Martian
desert with a prisoner whose friends will soon arrive to attempt a
violent rescue. Help arrives in the form of a reclusive colonist.
Soon they're all being chased across the desert by the prisoner's
friends, who seem able to anticipate every effort to shake them
off. Meanwhile, Devis has his own troubles. An attempt to come to
his friends' rescue goes wrong, and he finds himself at the mercy
of colonists who hold his life in their hands. Matters will come to
a head in a perilous stand-off on the four-mile-high cliffs of the
Mariner Valley canyon. 2.3 Whatever Happened to Gary Rice? by Guy
Adams. After the Star Cops receive a cryptic message about a man
who may once have worked at a colony in the Argyre Basin, they make
their way there to investigate. They find a co-operative community
that thrives by growing an organic food source, which it sells to
other colonies. But no-one seems to remember the man the Star Cops
are looking for. Nathan visits a neighbouring scientific research
base, where nutritionist Dr Julienne Grainger has information that
may resolve the mystery of the missing colonist. As the Star Cops
get closer to discovering the truth, there are those who are
prepared to kill to keep it secret. CAST: David Calder (Nathan
Spring / Box), Trevor Cooper (Colin Devis), Linda Newton (Pal

The USA TODAY bestseller-based on the new Star Trek TV series!
"Fifteen years ago...you led us out of the darkness. You commanded
the greatest rescue armada in history. Then...the unimaginable.
What did that cost you? Your faith. Your faith in us. Your faith in
yourself. Tell us, why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?" Every end
has a beginning...and this electrifying novel details the events
leading into the new Star Trek TV series, introducing you to
brand-new characters featured in the life of Jean-Luc Picard-widely
considered to be one of the most popular and recognizable
characters in all of science fiction.
Four new stories from across the First Doctor's era; 1. Fields of
Terror by John Pritchard. The TARDIS has brought the Doctor back to
Revolutionary France, a place that's always fascinated him. But
this time he, along with Steven and Vicki, are drawn into a
devastated land, caught between the soldiers who are burning all
before them and a monstrous shape that follows in their wake. 2.
Across the Darkened City by David Bartlett. On the planet Shade,
The Chaons, an invading race of strange, amorphous creatures that
ravenously absorb energy, have reduced the city there to a desolate
ruin. Separated from the Doctor and Vicki, Steven has to join
forces with an unexpected ally to find his way back to the TARDIS.
Ahead, lies a nightmare journey through the dark - a test of
endurance and trust. 3. The Bonfires of the Vanities by Una
McCormack. When the Doctor, Polly, and Ben arrive in Lewes in the
late 1950s, they're just in time to celebrate Guy Fawkes' Night.
But there's no fun on the streets tonight - the town is in the grip
of fear. There are imps on the loose in Lewes, the Bonfire Boys are
on the march, and nobody is safe from the fire. 4. The Plague of
Dreams by Guy Adams. "Pray welcome, one and all, to this, a fantasy
in two acts, presented, most humbly, for your pleasure. We bring
you drama and magic, angels and demons, a tale of mysterious
plague... of nightmares made flesh... of a war fought both in this
world and those immeasurably distant. A war, in fact, fought
through the mists of time itself. It will make you gasp! It will
make you weep! It may even make some of you wake-up..." CAST:
Maureen O'Brien (Vicki), Robert Hands (Lagrange), Peter Purves
(Steven Taylor), Anneke Wills (Polly), Elliot Chapman (Ben Jackson
/ The Player), Helen Goldwyn (The Chaons) and Nicholas Briggs as

All new audio drama performed by Blake's 7 cast members with
specially composed music and cinematic sound design. Starring
actors reprising their roles from the hugely popular BBC TV series.
Three new adventures for the crew of the Liberator. 1. VELANDRA.
Blake is having bad dreams: a swamp, wolves, a woman called
Velandra...and Travis. Could this be a memory that was erased by
the Federation? 2. RETRIBUTION. A distress call leads Avon and Vila
to an old tracking station on the moon of Lorean. It was sent by
Ragnus Lang, formerly Vila's partner-in-crime. And now Lang needs
Blake's help. 3. MINISTRY OF PEACE. The Liberator crew are on the
planet Speranza to assist its new interim government. But is the
planet a beacon of hope in the fight against the Federation - or is
Speranza's history about to take a darker path?
Even a Time Lord can't change the past. A wasteland. A dead
world... No, there is a biodome, rising from the ash. Here, life
teems and flourishes, with strange and lush plants, and many-winged
insects with bright carapaces - and one solitary sentient creature,
who spends its days watering the plants, talking to the insects,
and tending this lonely garden. This is Inyit, the Last of the
Kotturuh. In All Flesh is Grass we are transported back to The Dark
Times. The Tenth Doctor has sworn to stop the Kotturuh, ending
Death and bringing Life to the universe. But his plan is
unravelling - instead of bringing Life, nothing has changed and all
around him people are dying. Death is everywhere. Now he must
confront his former selves - one in league with their greatest
nemesis and the other manning a ship of the undead...
This volume of essays continues the establishment of Lois McMaster
Bujold as an important author of contemporary science fiction and
fantasy. It argues persuasively that Bujold's corpus spans the
distance between two full arcs of US feminism, and has anticipated
or responded to several of its current concerns in ways that invite
or even require theoretical exploration. The fourteen essays
collected here provide wide-ranging scholarly analyses of Bujold's
work and worlds so far, covering not only the science fiction and
fantasy series, but taking into account the wealth of ancillary
material inspired by her works, such as fan fiction and
role-playing games. Examining the major series through a range of
perspectives, including feminist readings, queer theory, and
disability studies, this volume aims to establish beyond doubt the
seriousness of intent behind Bujold's various artistic projects and
provide a set of rich readings of this engaging, experimental,
playful, and popular author.
