Understanding consumer choice is central to modern marketing,
thought and practice. This volume presents a ground-breaking
approach to the analysis of brand choice which is relevant to both
marketing practice and social science. This unique analysis reveals
the causes of consumer choice that underlie patterns of brand
selection; the role of price and non-price elements of the
marketing mix in influencing brand choice; a novel means of
describing the structure of markets in terms of the combination of
utilitarian and symbolic benefits consumers obtain from their
purchases and a new means of analyzing consumer behaviour in terms
of elasticity of demand.

Freedom and the Rule of Law takes a critical look at the historical
beginnings of law in the United States, and how that history has
influenced current trends regarding law and freedom. Anthony
Peacock has compiled articles that examine the relationship between
freedom and the rule of law in America. Although this is a theme
that has been a perennial one since America's founding, it is also
one of particular importance today, and this book explains how
history makes this apparent. The rule of law is fundamental to all
liberal constitutional regimes whose political orders recognize the
equal natural rights of all, and whose purpose is to protect those
natural rights in addition to the general welfare. The rule of law
was essential to achieving both of these ends and to reconciling
them where necessary. But just how free is America today? It was
certainly within the contemplation of the Founders that the federal
judiciary would have a significant role in interpreting the
Constitution, federal laws, and treaties, but it would be difficult
to argue that those who framed and ratified the Constitution
contemplated a role for the courts, particularly for the United
States Supreme Court, of the magnitude they have today. The writers
take the reader far back into history to the very roots of American
Law by examining the English common law roots that provided the
foundation for the rule of law in America. This book explores these
phenomena and other recent developments in American freedom through
history.
Christian Liberal Arts articulates the practical, pedagogical, and
theological reasons why Christian liberal arts colleges are
distinctive in the world of American higher education. Mannoia
enumerates the intrinsic and instrumental values of Christian
liberal arts, and how both should forcefully shape an institution's
goals. He suggests that Christian colleges should strive to help
their students go beyond the extremes of dogmatism and skepticism
to achieve critical commitment. Colleges must also aid their
students to adjust to real world problems without sacrificing
academic quality. Mannoia believes that the solution to this
challenge must inevitably integrate multiple disciplines, values
and learning, and theory with practice, a process from which both
faculty and graduates will acquire the capacity to resolve the
thorniest dilemmas facing society and the Christian community.
Donners Bend is an engaging story about Eliana Mae Henderson.
Eliana was young and pretty, though not thoroughly convinced of the
latter. After leaving home at an early age, she experienced her
share of difficulties; but she knew this was her life and there was
no looking back. Fortunately, she was not afraid of hard work or
anything that accompanied her seemingly uncertain future. As she
navigates through the challenges, she finds joy, unwavering
friendships, and courage; but more than anything else, what Ellie
least expected... an amazing, extraordinary love.
