It is predicted that we will lose all of our commercial fish species by 2048. Within the next 60 years all of our planets topsoil is expected to perish. How did we come to this? What are the forces at play that have led us on such a destructive and unsustainable path? Why has the environmental movement taken so long to gain necessary traction?
The answers to these important questions have surprisingly been difficult to find. Very few resources provide the necessary exploration of the broad range of environmental challenges that face our world, nor the solutions to these overwhelming obstacles. Our unstainable methods of consumption have reached an all-time high, and our planet is suffering a great deal as a result. The driving forces behind these high levels of consumption – population growth and increased demand- are leading us into an uncertain future. It is now clear that drastic transformation is needed. It was the unintended consequences of innovation that led us into this situation. But as it stands, innovation will be the primary key to leading us out of it.
Green Is Not A Colour sets the bar straight. By cutting to the very root of the problems we face, we are able to see how the environmental crisis is inextricably linked to every aspect of our lives. By identifying the opportunities- both readily available and in development-that provide the solutions to these problems, the book reveals how human ingenuity will prove to be a powerful tool in steering us onto a sustainable path.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

Write It Real reduces the writing process to its essential core,
providing prose writers with pragmatic guides directed solely to
improving their words where it matters the most, on the page. This
book covers every aspect governing the inside process of producing
compelling prose. In doing so, it avoids the abstract and
"philosophical" theories of so many writing guides, the nonsense
that loses the reader in the layered, labyrinthine maze of grammar
and technical excess. Valenti’s masterful book focuses instead on
the time-tested, practical strategies that produce tangible—and
sometimes instant—results. Write It Real will help writers of all
abilities, from developing to the selling pro, refine their work
into sparkling clarity, and to do it with renewed confidence that
comes from fully understanding how writing works from the inside of
creativity out to the reader. This guidebook combines the best of a
handbook and a "how to" with insights and strategies refined over
decades of the author’s prolific career as a journalist, writer,
teacher, and speaker. A passionate take on and an illuminating look
at a skill both mysterious and accessible, Write It Real’s 11
chapters take writers through the overlooked (because it’s
obvious) and the obscure (because it’s overlooked). As a prose
prescription, this "Rx" is nothing less than the 21st century’s
answer to Strunk and White’s classic, The Elements of Style.

Feldman, Valenty, and their contributors present
state-of-the-art evaluations of linkages between personality,
motivation, decision making, leadership style, and behavior among
political leaders across divergent cultures. Leading scholars in
the field examine the application of theoretical approaches and
research methods used to evaluate these important relationships.
They effectively illustrate the concomitant role of cultural and
political context, historical circumstance, environmental factors,
and socialization agents affecting political leadership and
performance.
Contributors evaluate methods currently in use by scholars in
political science, psychology, political psychology, social
psychology, and history, including psychodiagnostic and
psychobiographical approaches, and the application of these methods
in profiling the personalities of political leaders. Each chapter
presents a unique case study evaluating a political leader or
leaders including such major figures as Mao Zedong, Tony Blair,
Seyyed Mohammed Khatami, Helmut Kohl, and Stalin, Yeltsin, and
Putin.
Valenty, Feldman, and their contributors challenge the current
state of political leadership studies by offering a variety of
analytical methods from scholars around the world. While focused on
American political leadership, the different approaches and vantage
points offer fresh insights of the roles of cultural and political
context, including the historical circumstance, environmental
factors, and socialization agents that affect and shape American
political leadership and performance.
The highly unusual and valuable approach includes
multidisciplinary perspectives with contributors from the fields of
political science, political psychology, philosophy, sociology, and
economics. Scholars, students, and researchers from a variety of
disciplines will find the evaluations of the interaction between
personality, leadership, decision making, and context
invaluable.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Sophus Lie, an
International Work shop "Modern Group Analysis: advanced analytical
and computational methods in mathematical physics" has been
organized in Acireale (Catania, Sicily, October 27 31, 1992). The
Workshop was aimed to enlighten the present state ofthis rapidly
expanding branch of applied mathematics. Main topics of the
Conference were: * classical Lie groups applied for constructing
invariant solutions and conservation laws; * conditional (partial)
symmetries; * Backlund transformations; * approximate symmetries; *
group analysis of finite-difference equations; * problems of group
classification; * software packages in group analysis. The success
of the Workshop was due to the participation of many experts in
Group Analysis from different countries. This book consists of
selected papers presented at the Workshop. We would like to thank
the Scientific Committee for the generous support of recommending
invited lectures and selecting the papers for this volume, as well
as the members of the Organizing Committee for their help. The
Workshop was made possible by the financial support of several
sponsors that are listed below. It is also a pleasure to thank our
colleague Enrico Gregorio for his invaluable help of this volume.
This book examines the evidence-based interventions that can be
used to promote creative thinking skills for children and
adolescents in schools. It begins by explaining the theoretical
basis of these training programmes, before presenting a coherent
framework for the application of creativity theory in education.
The authors describe and analyse programmes that have drawn on this
framework, before offering an overview of the results of
experimental studies which have validated the authors' approach.
This book provides practical guidance on how the programmes can be
applied in the classroom and discusses potential future directions
for research and practice for increasing children's creativity.
This book will be a valuable resource for teachers and teacher
trainers, as well as to researchers in the psychology of
creativity, education, and educational psychology.
Winner of the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and specifically
cited by the Swedish Academy when Hemingway received the Nobel
Prize for Literature in 1954, "The Old Man and the Sea" remains one
of the author's most beloved works. This casebook helps readers
interpret and appreciate the thematic concerns of the novel, as
well as the contextual issues it explores.
Topic chapters provide information on Cuba, including its
natural geography, sociopolitical history, and the ethnic
background of its people. A wide variety of primary documents such
as interviews and articles, along with charts and illustrations,
establish a framework for interdisciplinary study.
One chapter with particular appeal to students deals with
Hemingway's treatment of the ethos and issues of baseball and
sports. Included are documents pertaining to the Cuban league, the
legendary Joe DiMaggio, and a historical perspective of baseball
offered by the Director of Research at the Cooperstown Baseball
Hall of Fame in an original interview conducted for this book. The
casebook is completed with contemporary issues, suggestions for
oral and written exploration of the novel, and suggested further
readings.
