The complete second series of the BBC drama, adapted from Jennifer Worth's memoirs, about a group of midwives working in East London in the 1950s. In this series, it's 1958, and while Jenny (Jessica Raine) has her hands full dealing with an abused patient, fellow midwives Trixie (Helen George) and Sister Evangelina (Pam Ferris) are forced to board a Swedish cargo ship to tend to the captain's pregnant daughter.

Ken Russell helms this graphic 1971 adaptation of a documented witchcraft case, which took place in France in 1634. Outspoken priest Urbain Grandier (Oliver Reed) finds himself accused of seducing a group of hysterical nuns while in demon form by Mother Superior Sister Jeanne (Vanessa Redgrave), who is obsessed with Grandier and driven into a fit of envy when he marries another woman. With the involvement of charismatic exorcist Father Barre (Michael Gothard), the affair turns into a sordid mass exorcism of the tainted convent. With much controversy surrounding its subject matter of religion combined with violence and sex, many cuts were made to the film in order for it to attain certification.

When fashion photographer Thomas (David Hemmings) develops the negatives of some film he has taken of an embracing couple in a park, he notices that there is a gunman lurking in the bushes behind them. Returning to the scene, he discovers the corpse of the male half of the couple, but, when he visits the site the following morning, the body has disappeared. Michelangelo Antonioni's arty musing on the nature of film, set against a Swinging London backdrop, also features Vanessa Redgrave as the dead man's lover.

Having been arrested in England for campaigning for fairer wages and forming one of the first trade unions, a group of six farm workers from Dorset are sentenced to be transported to Australia in 1834 for seven years. The life story of controversial 1960s playwright Joe Orton (Gary Oldman), revealed in flashback after his murder by lover Kenneth Halliwell (Alfred Molina). Born in Leicester, Orton moves to London and enjoys an openly gay relationship with Halliwell in their famous Islington flat. However, when Orton achieves spectacular success with such plays as 'What the Butler Saw' and 'Loot', Halliwell begins to feel alienated and the pair's future looks increasingly uncertain.

Julian Schnabel directs this drama about an orphaned Palestinian girl growing up in the aftermath of the first Arab-Israeli war. Hind Husseini (Hiam Abbass) sets up an orphanage following the partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 that soon becomes home to almost 2,000 children. Seven-year-old Miral (Freida Pinto) ends up in the orphanage following her mother's death. Brought up there in an atmosphere of peace and stability, she is unaware of the troubles that surround her until she goes to teach at a refugee camp at the age of 17. There, she finds herself torn between the fight for the future of her people and Mama Hind's belief that education is the only possible route to peace.

Morgan Delt (David Warner in his only lead role) is a Marxist, gorilla-fixated, barely sane artist who kidnaps his ex-wife Leonie (Vanessa Redgrave in her film debut) because she is about to marry again and he wants her back. Morgan also goes on to attack her 'normal' art-dealer fiance, and former-best-friend (Robert Stephens), tries to blow up her mother and sabotages her house. A dark comedy that edits in scenes from King Kong and Tarzan films that launched the film career of Redgrave.
