Cadmium (Cd) is currently one of the most important toxic metals in
occupational and environmental toxicology. It causes adverse
effects on kidneys, liver, bones, testes, etc, and is classified in
group 1 of human carcinogens. This new book displays present
knowledge on interactions between toxic metal cadmium and essential
metals Zn, Cu and Mg on this topic. The contents of this book
present the effects of Zn, Cu or Mg supplementation on Cd body
burden in rabbits exposed to prolonged Cd intoxication, compares
the effects of these bioelements on the Cd concentration and
distribution in various tissues and answers whether treatment with
one of these bioelements could be used in prophylaxis and therapy
of Cd poisoning.
