Vicente Blasco Ibanez (1867-1928) was a Spanish realist novelist, a
screenwriter, and occasional film director, best known in the
English-speaking world for his World War I novel The Four Horsemen
of the Apocalypse.
Vicente Blasco Ibanez (1867-1928). Espana. Nacio en Valencia el 29
de enero de 1867. Estudio Derecho pero no ejercio esa profesion y
se dedico a la politica y la literatura. Con veintiun anos se
inicio en la Masoneria el 6 de febrero de 1887 y adopto el nombre
simbolico de Danton en la Logia Union n 14 de Valencia y despues en
la logia Acacia n 25. Alli recibio el encargo del presidente
Raymond Poincare de escribir esta novela sobre la guerra: Los
cuatro jinetes del Apocalipsis (1916), que fue un autentico exito
de ventas en los Estados Unidos. Blasco Ibanez murio en Menton
(Francia) el 28 de enero 1928.

popular novels, while his Valencian novels such as La Barraca and
