Lost and Turned Out represents a unique opportunity for us to
re-define clear roles and responsibilities when it comes to
disaster preparedness. It challenges our institutions; the
faith-based community, emergency managers, politicians, community
leaders, and individuals and families, to "get real" about their
disaster preparedness efforts. In this book, I explore the reasons
why underserved communities are so unprepared, examine solutions to
bridge the preparedness gap, and apply practical principles in an
effort to save lives. Rather than creating a "wish list" of what
others should do, Lost and Turned Out focuses on what underserved
communities can do to help themselves survive disasters.
