In numerous puplications the results of synovectomy have been written about where either one or another viewpoint have been examined. In this publication, the attempt is made to collect as many parameters as possible so as to get a most objective picture of the therapeutic worth by studying 100 knee and 370 finger synovectomies. During the survey, among other points, the following important aspects were taken under consideration: The operative results were not evaluated by the operating surgeon, but by a rheumatologist who was not on the clinic staff. As is well known, it is difficult to evaluate the X-ray picture objectively, since very often "subjective impressions" prevail. Gschwend succeeded in setting up - mainly for the synovectomized finger joints - a comprehensive point system, so as not to leave the evaluation to chance. Besides the purely local joint condition, an internal rheumatological status, at the time of the operation and the follow-up examinations, with corresponding laboratory tests, was carried out and included in the evaluation. Finally, it should be pointed out that this is a long term study of 5 years, with various controls made in between. The examination of so-called control groups, for the present study, seems to us to be highly problematic and of little value for a statement. Essentially, only the local condition with respect to pain and swellings im proves, while the general activity of the inflammatory process as also the mobility and deformity of the synovectomized joints will only be somewhat influenced.

Technischer Fortschritt und Wettbewerb haben dazu gefuhrt, dass die Unter nehmen in immer starkerem Masse gezwungen sind, ihre Entscheidungen nicht mehr intuitiv zu treffen, sondern sorgfaltig vorzubereiten und zu pla nen. In der Planung mussen das Unternehmen selbst und seine Beziehungen zur Umwelt als ein komplexes System begriffen und analysiert werden. Das Verstandnis der komplexen Zusammenhange ist erforderlich, wenn man die Auswirkungen geplanter Entscheidungen voraussagen und in der Entschei dung beurteilen will. Dazu sind Informationen erforderlich. Diese Informa tionen mussen nicht nur schnell beschafft und verarbeitet werden. Sie mus sen auch in sich konsistent sein. Diese Anforderungen an ein modernes Entscheidungssystem in der Fuhrung von Unternehmen, seien sie nun gross oder klein, lassen sich nur erfullen, wenn die Unternehmen auch ihre Informationen systematisch planen, be schaffen und verarbeiten. Das geschieht im Informationssystem des Unter nehmens. Ein solches Informationssystem unterscheidet sich von dem tradi tionellen Berichtssystem der Unternehmen, das im betrieblichen Rechnungs wesen seinen Niederschlag fand, vor allem dadurch, dass es entscheidungs orientiert ist."

Am 5. Januar 1901 trat die Kommission zur Vereinbarung ein- heitlicher Verfahren fiir die Untersuchung von Nahrungsmitteln, Genussmitteln und Gebrauchsgegenstiinden zu ihrer 5. und letzten Plenarversammlung im Kaiserlichen Gesundheitsamte zu Berlin zusammen. Ausser den standigen Mitgliedern del' Kommission nahmen an del' Sitzung Theil: Als Referent del' bayerischen Ver- einigung: Ober-Inspektor Dr. Rottger-Wiirzburg; als Vertreter des Vereins deutscher Chemiker: Medizinalrath Dr. E. A. Merck- Darmstadt und Prof. Dr. Hintz-Wiesbaden; vom Verbande selb- standiger offentlicher Chemiker Deutschlands Dr. Pop p -Frankfurt a. M. Ausserdem waren anwesend Dr. Bomer-Miinster i. W., sowie vom Kaiserlichen Gesundheitsamt: Geheimer Regierungsrath Dr. 0 h- millIer, Regierungsrath Dr. Gotzke, Regierungsrath Dr. Kerp, sowie Dr. Fritzweiler und Dr. Schmidt. In del' Versammlung gelangten die Abschnitte: Mate, Luft, Gebrauchsgegenstande, Kaffee und Kafl'eeersatzstoffe zur Berathung und Annahme. Darauf traten die Anwesenden - unter Vorsitz des Geheimen Regierungsraths Professor Dr. Konig-Miinster - in eine Besprechung del' Vorarbeiten zur Festsetzung einheitlicher Gebiihren- satze fiir Untersuchungen von Nahrungsmitteln etc. ein und ertheilten dem Entwurf von Gebiihrensatzen nach den, am vorhergehenden Tage gefassten Beschliissen del' aus Mitgliedern del' Versammlung gebildeten engeren Kommission ihre Zustimmung; hierbei wurde gleichzeitig dem Wunsche Ausdruck gegeben, dass die Aufnahme des Tarifs in den "Vereinbarungen" als Anhang erfolgen moge. In das vorliegende 3. Heft del' "Vereinbarungen" haben die noch aus- stehenden Abschnitte in folgender Reihenfolge Aufnahme gefunden: Bier, Kaffee, Kaffee-Ersatzstoffe, Thee, Mate, Kakao und Chokolade, Tabak, Luft und Gebrauchsgegenstande, endlich als Anhang del' Entwurf von Gebiihrensatzen.
