This volume presents results of the International Meshing
Roundtable conference organized by Sandia National Laboratories
held in September 2005. The conference is held annually and since
its inception eleven years ago has become widely recognized as a
major forum for the exchange of ideas in this field. The papers of
this proceedings are devoted to mesh generation and adaptation
which has applications to finite element simulation as well as to
computational geometry and computer graphics. This book introduces
theoretical and novel ideas with practical potential as well as
technical applications from industrial researchers, bringing
together renowned specialists from engineering, computer science
and mathematics.
This new Routledge Major Work is a six-volume collection of nearly
one hundred papers, articles, and extracts covering every aspect of
lexicology. It ranges over philosophy of language, prototype
theory, artificial intelligence, cognitive linguistics, systemic
linguistics, structuralism (European and American), generative
lexicon theory, meaning-text theory, natural semantic metalanguage
theory, computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and child
language acquisition. Carefully edited extracts from writings on
the lexicon by Aristotle, Wilkins, Leibniz, and Wittgenstein make
the central observations of these great thinkers readily available
to scholars and students. And major articles by lexical semantic
field theorists (Trier, Porzig, Gipper, and Coseriu) are made
available for the first time in English translation. A general
introduction by Patrick Hanks, a leading scholar in the field,
gives a comprehensive overview of the subject and its main issues.

Structural and dynamical properties of surfaces are of considerable
importance for the elucidation of surface phenomena. For example,
the adsorption of particles and chemical reactions at surfaces are
influenced by these properties. Also, the electronic surface states
of electronic device materials (e.g., Schottky barrier diodes and
metal-insulator-semiconductor devices) depend critically on the
structure of the semiconductor surface and the overlayers. As in
"Structure and Dynamics of Surfaces I," this Topics volume
considers the problems at the mircoscopic level. It deals with
ordered and disordered as well as harmonic and anharmonic surface
effects. Novel experimental techniques and theoretical developments
which have been applied successfully during the last decade are
integrated. The contributions of this volume also include the
background of the subject, typical results, and, in most cases,
trends of future developments.
