Bei ihm werden flUssiges Roheisen, Schrott und schlackenbildende Zuschlge in einem oben offenen GefaB mit einem Uberschallsauer- stoffstrahl beaufschlagt. Die Eisenbegleiter verbrennen und ver- schlacken. Das auffallendste Kriterium ist die Schnelligkeit der Stahlherstellung: In etwa 1/2 h sind 300 t Stahl fertig; von die- ser Zeit betragt die reine Blaszeit etwa ein Drittel. Dementspre- chend hoch ist das Erzeugungspotential. Urn Stahl mit reproduzierbarer und bester Qualitat so wirtschaft- lich wie moglich herstellen zu konnen, ist ein Verstandnis der im Konverter ablaufenden Vorgange notwendig. Die Kinetik und die Me- chanismen der Reaktionen im Konverter sind jedoch ziemlich kompli- ziert. Die physikalischen Vorgange konnen grundsatzlich nicht von den chemischen Reaktionen getrennt werden, da sie sich gegenseitig beeinflussen und voneinander abhangen. Ein vollkorrmenes Verstand- nis von dem, was im Konverter geschieht, ist derzeit noch nicht vorhanden. Nachstehend wird eine Abschatzung dessen versucht, was bis jetzt bekannt ist. Beobachtungen in und an Betriebskonvertern zeigen, daB die tatsachlichen Verhaltnisse erheblich komplizierter sind als Modelluntersuchungen gelegentlich glauben lassen. Daher wird in der Hauptsache auf Betriebsdaten zurUckgegriffen, soweit es sie gibt. Ergebnisse von Laboruntersuchungen werden nur gele- gentlich angefUhrt und zwar dann, wenn mit ihnen besondere Punkte verdeutlicht werden konnen. 2. Strahl 2.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird experimentell die Spulentga- sung von Stahlschmelzen am Beispiel der Stickstoffentfernung mit in das Bad eingeblasenem Argon untersucht. Durch Spulgas (z. B. Argon), das durch die Stahlschmelze hin- durchgeleitet wird, koennen Substanzen aus dem Stahl entfernt werden, die die Sch elze in gasfoermigem Zustand verlassen koen- nen, wie z. B. Wasserstoff, Stickstoff und Kohlenmonoxid. Was- serstoff und Stickstoff sind meist hoechst unerwunschte Begleit- elemente; durch die Entfernung von CO kann je nach der metal- lurgischen Ausgangslage der Stahl gefrischt und/oder desoxi- diert werden. Die Spulgasbehandlung von Stahlschmelzen durch in Stahl unloes- liche Gase beruht im Prinzip darauf, dass die durch die Schmel- ze perlenden Spulgasblasen in Abhangigkeit vom Unterschied der Partialdrucke der loeslichen Gase im Metall und im Spulgas Gas aufnehmen und dieses an die Oberflache der Schmelze transportieren' bis 5). Die Entfernung der unerwunschten, im flussigen Stahl geloesten Gase geschieht durch Erniedrigung des Partialdruckes des geloesten Gases in der mit dem Metallbad in Beruhrung stehenden Gasphase. Diese Erniedrigung des Partial- druckes, der zur Beschleunigung der Entgasung moeglichst wei unter dem Gleichgewichtsdruck fur die jeweilige Konzentration des Gases im Metallbad liegen sollte, geschieht durch das Ein- leiten des Spulgases bis auf den Anfangswert Null, wenn das Spulgas frei ist von dem zu entfernenden Gas. Das zu entfernen- de Gas diffundiert infolge des Partialdruckgefalles aus dem Stahl in die aufsteigenden Spulgasblasen und wird aus dem flus- sigen Stahl entfernt. . R' h b' h h' b' 6 bis '2) .

Der Wasserstoff geh6rt zu den unerwUnschten Stahlbegleitern, da er fUr eine Reihe von Werkstoffehlern verantwortlich gemacht werden muS. Beizblasen, Flocken, Fischaugen und Wasserstoffver- spr6dung sind einige der unangenehmen Folgeerscheinungen der meist unvermeidlichen Wasserstoffaufnahme w hrend der Stahlher- stellung und -verarbeitung. Die Untersuchung dieser Ph nomene bzw. die Aufhellung der ver- antwortlichen Bildungsmechanismen erfordert eingehende Kennt- nisse Uber das Diffusionsverhalten des Wasserstoffs in Eisen und Stahl. Der EinfluB der verschiedensten Parameter ist zwar in zahlreichen Arbeiten untersucht worden, trotzdem fehlen im Bereich tieferer Temperaturen ausreichend genaue Daten fUr das Diffusionsverm6gen des Wasserstoffs in festen Eisenl6sungen. Schrifttumstibersicht 1 29 Die bisher ver6ffentlichten Ergebnisse - ) lassen nur bei 0 Temperaturen oberhalb von etwa 300 C eine befriedigende tiber- einstimmung der Diffusionskoeffizienten des Wasserstoffs er- kennen.
