Gar mannigfach waren die bis in die ersten Kriegsjahre verfolgten, zum Teil auch nur zu Planen gediehenen Arbeiten des Ausschusses, und bei allen Arbeiten war das Streben nach der Anlehnung an praktische Verhaltnisse - vornehmlich an praktische Ausfiihrungen - vorherrschend. Die damaligen Arbeiten sollten nicht, wie die vora usgegangenen bedeutsamen Untersuchungen T e t m a j e 2), r s zur Gewinnung einer "Knickformel" fiihren, vielmehr soUten sie Grundlagen schaffen fiir die einwandfreie Ausbildung und Bindung der in der Praxis meist vorkommenden gegliederten Druckstabe. Mit der geringen zur Durchfiihrung gekommenen Zahl der Versuche wurde das Ziel nicht erreicht, zumal sich ja auch in deren Ergebnissen die Uberlagerung vieler Einzel 3 einfliisse ausdriicken muBte ). Aus dem lebhaften Widerstreit der Meinungen iiber die mannigfachen in Gebrauch befindlichen Berechnungsvorschriften war andererseits zu erkennen, daB der Lasting dieser Frage zum wenigsten die gleiche Bedeutung und Dringlichkeit zukam. Die Anerkennung der Eulerformel hatte sich mehr und mehr durchgesetzt, und die Nachpriifung der viel bestrittenen von Tetmajer aufgestellten Geraden fiir die Knicklasten des praktisch be deutsamsten sog. Bereichs der unelastischen Knickung schien in erster Linie geboten."
