nun in drei Bande. Band I behandelt im wesentlichen die
physiologischen Grundlagen der Pflanzenernahrung. Er enthalt eine
ausfuhrliche und systematische Darstellung der eigentlichen
Ernahrungsphysiologie. Auf eine Erorterung der allgemeinen
pflanzen- physiologischen Grundlagen konnte dabei verzichtet
Readers of the first volume of Progress in Orthopaedic Surgery may
remember the introductory remarks of Drs. Wagner and Hungerford. It
is the intention of the editors of this publication to familiarize
English - speaking orthopaedists with articles published in the
European literature which, because of language barriers, would
otherwise be inaccessible to them. Most articles in this second
volume also are translations of papers originally printed in Der
Orthopiide. The purpose of this German medical journal is to
disseminate the newest experiences of orthopaedic problems in a
form that is of particular value to the practising orthopaedic
surgeon. In 1973 eight articles were published on acetabular
dysplasia. In his fore word to this issue Dr. Wagner stated some of
the reasons why such an indepth study was deemed necessary. He was
of the opinion that the shallowness and increase in acclivity of
the acetabulum was of such central importance in the development
and treatment of hip dysplasias that a volume dealing with this
subject was fully justified. Another reason for this collection of
papers was the advances made in correcting the results of a
dysplastic acetabulum by surgical means and thereby improving hip
joint function in later years, or at least pre venting its early
deterioration."
This book explores the essentials of RFID and the EPCglobal
Network from the perspective of a practitioner that needs to make
business decisions concerning the adoption of the technology. The
perspective is from the supply chain management standpoint with
emphasis on case studies and new thinking about the subject. The
EPCglobal Network and RFID technology holds great promise for
transforming business through the use of low-cost, radio frequency
identification (RFID) tags to improve information flow and
productivity.

APEEC is the first measurement scale designed to evaluate the use
of developmentally appropriate practices in the early elementary
classroom (K-3). Developed for classrooms serving both children
with and without disabilities, the APEEC can be used by
administrators and researchers to evaluate the degree of
developmental appropriateness in inclusive and general education
classrooms. It can also be used by teachers as a self-assessment
tool. The book includes a carefully thought-out score sheet, which
can be photocopied for use in rating classrooms. Featuring
straightforward language and an easy-to-follow format, APEEC is
organized under three main categories: 1;Physical Environment-room
arrangement, display of child products (e.g., artwork), classroom
accessibility, health and safety 2;Instructional Context-use of
materials and computers, monitoring child progress, teacher-child
language, instructional methods, integration and breadth of
subjects 3;Social Context-children's role in decision-making,
participation of children with disabilities, social skills,
diversity, transitions between activities, and family involvement
The authors used a multi-step process to develop the APEEC,
including a thorough review of the relevant literature
(particularly the NAEYC guidelines and early childhood special
education literature); an extensive review of the scale by
practitioners, researchers, and board members of professional
organizations and research journals; and field testing in 69
classrooms.
