Keynesian Episode - A Reassessment (Paperback): W.H. Hutt Keynesian Episode - A Reassessment (Paperback)
W.H. Hutt
R305 Discovery Miles 3 050 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The late W. H. Hutt was a preeminent and persistent critic of the economic theories of John Maynard Keynes. In "The Keynesian Episode," he presents a comprehensive review of Keynes's "General Theory," including the finest critique to date of the Acceleration Principle. He questions the very legitimacy of Keynes's fundamental epistemology. In Hutt's discussion of economics there is a refreshing emphasis on the vital importance of the market price system as a coordinating process. As Dr. Hutt wrote: "The intellectual developments for which Keynes's "General Theory" appeared to be responsible had caused a setback to scientific thinking about human economic relations at a crucial epoch. Keynes tried to find in the factors determining the value of the money unit the genesis of output and income. . . . He linked monetary theory to the economic world only through unsatisfactory concepts such as employment, income, and effective demand."

LARGE PRINT EDITION More at LargePrintLiberty.com. Who were the original and most passionate opponents of apartheid in South Africa? The classical liberals, and this book was their most important weapon against the problem of racial injustice. William H. Hutt, an Austro-classical economist in South Africa (later he taught at the University of Dallas), explains that apartheid originated as a labor-union mechanism for artificially restricting the supply of labor and thereby driving up wages for the privileged. He further explains that nearly all the ensuing legal disabilities for blacks in South Africa stemmed from the problem of labor union political influence. As an old-time liberal, he urged the dismantling of the system to forestall a revolutionary environment that would have nationalized industry and socialized the economy. The study first appeared in 1964, and it was incredibly prescient. It remains the definitive study.
