Der grosste Abnehmer deutscher Maschinenbauprodukte ist hierbei China, aufgrund ihrer massiv expandierenden Volkswirtschaft. Mit 8 % Umsatzanteil ist China der zweitwichtigste Handelspartner deutscher Maschinenbauer. Laut einer Veroffentlichung des Verbands Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA) vom 29.11.2006 in Frankfurt lag der Auftragseingang im deutschen Maschinen- und Anlagenbau im Oktober 2006 um real 19 Prozent uber dem Ergebnis des Vorjahres. Bei der Auslandsnachfrage gab es ein Plus von funf Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahresniveau.
