This is a historic-romantic novel about a small American pioneer
town in Eastern Wisconsin. It traces several generations of mainly
one Yankee family arriving from New England early in the nineteen
century and continuing into the early twentieth century. The book
follows the history of the town over the period as close as
possible. All the characters in the book are based on real people,
but their lives and loves portrayed in this novel are purely
fictional.
This is a romantic novel involving the love story of a US naval
officer, the commander of a Navy destroyer, and a beautiful Dutch
girl, the daughter of a Dutch attache in Manila. It takes place
during the initial months of the Second World War in the Far East,
and the final demise of the US Asiatic Fleet. It begins in the
Philippines and continues in the Dutch East Indies (now,
Indonesia). The story alternates between the love affair and the
officer's naval duties during the Japanese invasion and conquest of
the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies. Their love affair is
complicated by the ongoing war and the efforts of the girl's
parents to stop it. Instead, the parents want their daughter to
marry a close family friend. The tempo is dictated by the slow but
steady advance of the Japanese military through the Philippines and
the Indonesian islands, and the struggle of the lovers to continue
their romance despite all the difficulties.
This is a romantic novel about an American architect sent to India

Later he gets involved with a newly arrived American girl who
instead is almost engaged to the boss's best friend. Nevertheless,
they see many sights together including the famous Taj Mahal.
Finally they secretly spend a week together in Goa, but end up
getting caught by the girl's supposed fiance. The affair concludes
in conflict and a secret attempt to escape from India.
This is a romantic novel involving an American Architect who is

office building in Jakarta. He comes to admire the city and then
