Breakthrough mentoring is more of an innovative mentoring approach than "It Takes a Village." Both are effective, but I believe Breakthrough mentoring is needed to aid in handling some of the people situations of the 21st century. I came up with a formula for Breakthrough mentoring that will be further explained in my book. The formula is BM = (EQ x SP x M) > T. I believe that Breakthrough mentoring only begins when a mentor has emotional intelligence (EQ) and a structured process (SP) and specific measures (M) used to continually assess mentorship outcomes throughout the process. If these three componets are greater than the time (T) invested in the mentee, Breakthrough mentoring has begun and the chances of producing positive results are much greater.
Dr. McCollum does an excellent job of delineating the major theories of organizational development with an emphasis on the strengths and weaknesses of these theories relative to change management and transformation.--Dr. Raghu Korrapati, editor-in-chief of the "International Journal of Applied Management and Technology."
