This Is A New Release Of The Original 1901 Edition.
1901. The tales contained in this volume were taken down from the
lips of the Malay peasantry, in the twilight of their own tropical
jungle, during the progress of the Cambridge Expedition of 1899
through the remoter states of the Malay Peninsula. The tales
themselves are the merest gleanings from an extensive
harvest-field, and make no pretensions whatever to any completeness
or finality. Illustrated. Sample Contents: King of the Tigers is
Sick; A Vegetarian Dispute; Pelican's Punishment; Tiger Get His
Deserts; Tiger and the Shadow; Wit Wins the Day; Elephant Princess
and the Prince; Saint that Was Shot Out of His Own Cannon; Legend
of Patani; Malayan Deluge; King Solomon and the Birds; Silver
Prince, and Princess Lemon-grass
This scarce antiquarian book is included in our special Legacy
