Cult road trip movie beloved of car and music fans for featuring an
impressive hot-rodded 1955 Chevy, and for starring James Taylor and
Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys) in the two lead roles. Two car boys,
secure in the knowledge that nobody has a ride like their '55 Chev,
cruise around America looking for gullible marks to race. The
Driver (Taylor) and The Mechanic (Wilson) are so into their ride
that it's become a sort of auto-nihilism and they barely even care
to talk to one another. They pick up a winsome hitchhiker (Laurie
Bird) who's soon enamored of their dedication. One day they meet
their future likeness in GTO (Warren Oates) - an ageing pump jockey
at a remote gas stand. His tales of hotrods past and his younger
years spent under the hood and behind the wheel of some classic
yankee iron, captivate the Chev boys. Unbeknownst to them, he's a
liar and soon they're locked in a race to The Capitol with him -
the keys to the Chev and those to the elderly liar's mint '70
Pontiac GTO hanging on the outcome.

Western starring Peter Fonda as Harry, a drifter who, with his
friend Archie (Warren Oates), has crossed the plains of America in
search of a better life. But tiring of the transient existence
Harry heads for home and the wife and child he left behind years
before. At first his wife Hannah (Verna Bloom) refuses to accept
him back, forcing him to sleep in the barn and work the farm
strictly as a hired hand. After time their romance rekindles, and
they rediscover the happiness they had lost. But when bad news of
Archie reaches the farm, Harry is faced with the most difficult
decision he has ever had to make.
Collection of five western feature films. 'The Searchers' (1956)
tells the story of Ethan Edwards (John Wayne), an ex-confederate
soldier who swears revenge after his brother's family is butchered
by Comanches and his niece (Natalie Wood) is kidnapped. Accompanied
by Martin Pawley (Jeffrey Hunter), Ethan sets out on an epic
seven-year search for the missing girl. In 'Pale Rider' (1985) a
community of gold mining prospectors comes under attack from a gang
of marauders who are after the prospectors' land. Young Megan
Wheeler (Sydney Penny) prays for help, which consequently arrives
in the form of the Preacher (Clint Eastwood), a grim, silent
stranger. In 'The Wild Bunch' (1969), set in 1913, a gang of
outlaws (William Holden, Ernest Borgnine and Warren Oates, amongst
others) ride into a Texan border town where the railroad office is
their target. The robbery turns into a blood-bath so the gang flee
to a desert hideout where they discover that their loot is
worthless... In 'Rio Bravo' (1959) Sheriff John T. Chance (Wayne)
is holding a murderous villain in his cell while waiting for a
magistrate to collect him for trial. The criminal's associates are
desperate to free him and will stop at nothing to achieve their
goal... 'How the West Was Won' (1962) traces the fortunes of
several generations of an American pioneer family as they move West
and cope with the Civil War. The film's several sections were made
by different directors, including Henry Hathaway and John Ford.
Spencer Tracy narrates, while Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, James
Stewart and John Wayne top the all-star bill.

The entire Seventies miniseries adaptation of Anne Sewell's classic
novel is brought together here on two tapes. Black Beauty is a
fine, handsome horse who goes through many trials and tribulations
at the hand of cruel or neglectful masters. Although mistreated,
Beauty is always loyal and faithful, and eventually finds his
reward when he is taken in by kindly owners who are appreciative of
his noble spirit.
Episode four of the 1960s American western series, following the
adventures of Marshal Jim Crown (Stuart Whitman). Crown is sent to
Cimarron Territory to keep law and order in the area after disputes
between cattlemen and incoming settlers. He must also deal with the
return of his old friend, Bear, and his gang, when their behaviour
becomes out of hand in Cimarron.
The director's cut of the bloody, violent western from one of the
masters of the genre, Sam Peckinpah. In 1913, a gang of outlaws
(William Holden, Ernest Borgnine and Robert Ryan, amongst others)
ride into a Texan border town where the railroad office is their
target. The robbery turns into a blood-bath so the gang flee to a
desert hideout where they discover that their loot is worthless.
With the railroad company's hired guns snapping at their heels,
they decide to escape to the apparent safety of the Mexican
revolutionaries.
