God has often encouraged me from the first chapter of Joshua, but that doesn't mean that I can walk into the Jordan River and expect it to open up before me.However I have seen Him "open up" difficult situations in ministry as I have trusted him. The Word of God is given to warn us and to offer hope to us. It can only do these things for us only if we receive the Word personally and let it work in our lives. " W. Wiersbe

What is freedom. . . and do you have it?
Christians in the twenty-first century need encouragement and
inspiration to lead lives that honor God. When faith is weak or the
pressures of the world seem overwhelming, remembering the great men
and women of the past can inspire us to renewed strength and
purpose. Our spiritual struggles are not new, and the stories of
those who have gone before us can help lead the way to our own
victories.
When David volunteered to meet Goliath's challenge to Israel, King Saul was concerned about what David would wear into battle. In fact, Saul placed his own armour on David. But it didn't fit, and it would have proved more of a hindrance than a help in David's battle. He was better off without the king's armour, carrying just his sling and five smooth stones. But there's no reason for today's believer to be gazing off toward the battlefield mumbling, I just don't have anything to wear. In Ephesians 6, God tells believers exactly what to wear to stand firm and His armour is tailor made. Stand will reacquaint you with each piece of armour God has provided and you'll learn how to use that armour in your daily fight on the battlefield.
Discover the keys to having a satisfied life King Solomon had it all. Wealth. Power. Prestige. Yet despite having everything he could ever want, Solomon was still unsatisfied. BE Satisfied examines Solomon's remarkable insights on what holds real value in this world. Part of Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe's best-selling "BE" commentary series, BE Satisfied has now been updated with study questions and a new introduction by Ken Baugh. A respected pastor and Bible teacher, Dr. Wiersbe explores Ecclesiastes to find what matters most in life. Warren Wiersbe's expository study of Genesis 12-25, focusing on the life and faith of Abraham, will answer your questions. In a practical and personal way, he explains: - How the life of faith begins Get better acquainted with Abraham and Sarah and discover the excitement and fulfillment of faith as you learn to "Be Obedient."

Isn't it time you stopped wandering and started conquering? Life is too short to wander around and miss out on the special inheritance God has for you right now. If you've been saying, "Count me out!" then the time has come for you to start saying, "Count me in--right now!" God is looking for people He can count on, people who will: Trust Him for daily guidance and provision Learn the meaning of His love and discipline Fight the battles of life by faith--and conquer Live for the future and not keep yearning for the past In the Book of Numbers, God tells us how to use the freedom Jesus purchased for us on the cross. He describes the kind of people who can be counted on to believe His promises, accomplish His purposes, and claim the inheritance He's assigned to them. Don't be a wanderer who goes through life never reaching your inheritance. "Be Counted" and trust Christ to lead you into God's very best blessings.

With candor and sensitivity, Wiersbe shares what he wishes he had known about ministering to others when he began his own Christian pilgrimage. Let his years of experience and wise counsel bring comfort to your soul and energy to your tasks. Warren W. Wiersbe is a pastor, author, and editor of more than one hundred books, including The Dynamics of Preaching and Through the Year with Warren W. Wiersbe. Oh, to be like Him--sympathetic, reaching out to others in distress! Jesus called Himself "the Son of man." He showed compassion toward all kinds of people . . . the sinful . . . the rejected . . . the brokenhearted . . . men and women . . . little children. The hopeless and the helpless looked to Him, and He never failed to meet their needs. As you study Dr. Luke's record of the Great Physician, Jesus Christ, you will better understand God's compassion and thereby be motivated to a greater degree to show loving concern for others . . . and to do what you can in God's power to help them in their distress. As never before, Dr. Wiersbe believes, God is calling His people to BE COMPASSIONATE "Pity is a depressant," wrote the eccentric philosopher Friedrich Nietzche. "A man loses power when he pities." Nietzche went mad in the year Adolph Hitler was born, but Hitler carried on that philosophy. He despised other people and stood apart from them. He especially despised the weak and the handicapped, and he developed programs for exterminating them. Robert Payne wrote, "Even on festive occasions he remained singularly alone, the flow of emotion ceasing abruptly when it came in contact with him. . . . He demanded for himself an immunity from people" (The Life and Death of Adolph Hitler, Praeger, p. 461). What a contrast to Jesus Christ, the compassionate Son of Man! In his Gospel, Dr. Luke describes our Lord as one who mingled with people, including publicans and sinners, and who shared the burdens of the afflicted and the weak. Jesus has proved conclusively that pity is a sign of strength, not of weakness; and that God's power flows through loving hearts. I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said that if the other planets are inhabited, they must be using the earth as their insane asylum. Our world is filled with hurting people who need a loving touch and a word of encouragement. Jesus has put His people here to let the world know that He cares. His command to us is, "Be compassionate!"
