Arthur Schnitzler's diary covers a period of more than fifty years,
from the festive procession to celebrate the silver wedding of
Emperor Franz Josef I and his wife Elisabeth until just before
Adolf Hitler seized power. When the first entry was made,
Schnitzler was 17-years old. The last entry dates from 10.19.1931,
two days before his death. The diary gives us insights into the
development of a writer, his artistic world and his relationships,
as well as the political and social events and shifts of this
period. This edition comprises 10 volumes, with integrated indices
being included in the tenth volume, facilitating access to this
diary that spans more than fifty years.
