First Published in 1999. This ancient Chinese manual of spiritual
alchemy was brought to the West in translation by missionary and
theologian Richard Wilhelm who is assisted in this book by Carl
Jung. Averse to the blind aping of oriental ways, Jung suggests
that Eastern treasures are best used to enrich our understanding of
the work we have to do on ourselves and our culture.
The contents of this book are based on invited papers submittedfor
presentation and discussion at the 1990 Material Handling Research
Colloquium held in Hebron, Kentucky, June 19-21,1990. The
Colloquium was sponsored and organized by the College Industry
Councilfor Material Handling Education (CIC-MHE) with addi tional
co-sponsorship and funding provided by numerous organizations (see
ac knowledgements). The purpose of the Colloquium was to foster
open discussion about the current state of material handling
research at universitiesfrom across the United States and Canada.
It was an opportunity to share specific research directions and
accomplish ments. But more importantly, it was an opportunity to
discuss the implications of the basic constraints to solving
industry relevant problems in the field of material handling and
closely related activities; the efficacy of the approaches being
taken at the present time; and the directions believed to be of
most value to the industry and to advancing the knowledge and
science base of the material handling engineering discipline. The
sponsoring organization, the College Industry Councilfor Material
Handling Education was founded in 1952. The council is composed of
college and university educators, material handling equipment
manufacturers, distributors, users and con sultants,
representatives of the business press plus professional staff and
members of other organizations concerned with material handling
education."
The West's foremost translator of the "I Ching, " Richard
Wilhelm thought deeply about how contemporary readers could benefit
from this ancient work and its perennially valid insights into
change and chance. For him and for his son, Hellmut Wilhelm, the
"Book of Changes" represented not just a mysterious book of oracles
or a notable source of the Taoist and Confucian philosophies. In
their hands, it emerges, as it did for C. G. Jung, as a vital key
to humanity's age-old collective unconscious. Here the observations
of the Wilhelms are combined in a volume that will reward
specialists and aficionados with its treatment of historical
context--and that will serve also as an introduction to the "I
Ching" and the meaning of its famous hexagrams.

large insurance policy as her motive, Lara could have staged the
death-or so it appears to the sheriff. Barbara finds herself drawn

there's no defense at all.

Travis Morgan's case seems open-and-shut: a plot to kill his
estranged father, fundamentalist preacher Arlie Morgan, goes awry
and his bullet slays an innocent bookkeeper. Two eyewitnesses seal
Travis' fate. But despite damning evidence, Travis staunchly
maintains his innocence. Beseeched by his anguished mother, veteran
defense attorney Barbara Holloway agrees to represent Travis. With
the support of her father attorney Frank Holloway and crack private
investigator Bailey, Barbara reveals a zealot, his ultra-rich
backers, and unimaginable atrocities. Travis' case proceeds to
trial, and Barbara finds herself pitted against a complacent legal
system and a judge eager to simply close the case and retire.
Knowing she must intervene decisively to avoid a conviction,
Barbara steps squarely into the path of danger. Risking her own
life, Barbara confronts the killer in order to save Travis' life.
