Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts ermoglichte die Geographische
Gesellschaft zu Hamburg dem Giessener Professor der Geographie
Wilhelm Sievers seine zweite Reise nach Sudamerika. Sievers fuhrte
diese Reise in den Jahren 1892 und 1893 aus. Er berichtet
ausfuhrlich uber die besuchten Regionen im Osten von Venezuela, die
mittleren Gebirgslandschaften sowie einen Teil des Orinocogebiets.
Seine Schilderungen der Landschaft und seine Erkenntnisse und
Entdeckungen sind auch fur den heutigen Leser noch eine
interessante Lekture. Nachdruck der langst vergriffenen
Originalausgabe von 1896
