Ronke, Simi and Boo are inseparable mixed-race friends living in London. They have the gift of two cultures, Nigerian and English, though not all of them choose to see it that way. Everyday racism has never held them back, but now in their thirties, they question their future. Ronke wants a husband (he must be Nigerian); Boo enjoys (correction: endures) stay-at-home motherhood; while Simi, full of fashion career dreams, rolls her eyes as her boss refers to her urban vibe yet again. When Isobel, a lethally glamorous friend from their past arrives in town, she is determined to fix their futures for them. Cracks in their friendship begin to appear, and it is soon obvious Isobel is not sorting but wrecking. When she is driven to a terrible act, the women are forced to reckon with a crime in their past that may just have repeated itself. A darkly comic and bitingly subversive take on love, race and family, Wahala will have you laughing, crying and gasping in horror. Boldly political about class, colorism and clothes, here is a truly inclusive tale that will speak to anyone who has ever cherished friendship, in all its form.
Five ruthless killers. Five deadly motives. One King - who must die. Game of Thrones meets Kill Bill in a feast of treason and seduction set against a dazzling fantasy backdrop of Korean history and folklore. The five most dangerous liars in the land have been mysteriously summoned to work together for a single objective: to kill the God King Joon. He has it coming. Under his merciless immortal hand, the nobles flourish, while the poor and innocent are imprisoned, ruined . . . or sold. And now each of the five blades will come for him. Each has tasted bitterness - from the hired hitman seeking atonement, a lovely assassin who seeks freedom, or even the prince banished for his cruel crimes. None can resist the sweet, icy lure of vengeance. They can agree on murder. They can agree on treachery. But for these five killers - each versed in deception, lies, and betrayal - it's not enough to forge an alliance. To survive, they'll have to find a way to trust each other . . . but only one can take the crown. Let the best liar win.
This is the 6th edition of NOSH for Students, a book originally inspired by the author's son, Ben, who left for university with no cooking skills. Toasted sandwiches and Mars bars were his staple diet, but these didn't serve him too well! What was needed to encourage him to cook was an easily attainable taste of home, oh, and pictures with every recipe! Nosh for Students was born. Since then, Joy has helped nearly half a million students get cooking with her straightforward and simple approach. Joy helps to take the chore out of cooking, giving students a taste of success and making the experience so much fun.
A restless tomboy with a wild imagination, Jo March bridles against societal conventions. She has no interest in becoming a lady; she will become a writer. Fortunately for Jo, her family supports her ambitions and understands her eccentricities. With their father serving as a chaplain in the Union Army and little money coming in, Jo and her three sisters work hard to help their mother keep the household afloat. Immensely popular from the day it was published, Little Women struck a chord with generations of young American women, demonstrating that women can pursue their dreams freely without compromising their values.
This book is just for you... You might be part of the nearly 8 million people in the UK that live by themselves or the countless other people who, at the very least, simply cook for themselves. - You might be fresh out of university and just starting your career. - You might live in a shared house with others but you still cook for yourself. - You might be at the other end of the scale and find yourself cooking for yourself again for the first time in a long time. - You might be a single parent who eats at a different time (and maybe wants to eat different food?!) to your kids and you want something different rather than reheated leftovers day after day. Whoever you are we have had you in our minds while writing this book. There is a real range of scenarios you might all find yourselves in but here are the things we have tried to stick to throughout this book which make this book perfect for one: for you.

This beautiful, giftable collection celebrates both the wisdom and tenacity of courageous women who defied society’s expectations and gifted the world with literary treasures through unparalleled fiction and poetry. We know many of their names--Austen and Alcott, Brontë and Browning, Wheatley, and Woolf--though some may be less familiar. They are here, waiting to introduce themselves. They wrote against all odds. Some wrote defiantly; some wrote desperately. Some wrote while trapped within the confines of status and wealth. Some wrote hand-to-mouth in abject poverty. Some wrote trapped in a room of their father’s house, and some went in search of a room of their own. They had lovers and families. They were sometimes lonely. Many wrote anonymously or under a pseudonym for a world not yet ready for their genius and talent. The Women Who Wrote softcover edition offers: Stories from Jane Austen, Katherine Mansfield, Willa Cather, Louisa May Alcott, Edith Wharton, Zora Neale Hurston, and Virginia Woolf. Poems from Emily Dickinson, Gertrude Stein, Charlotte Brontë, Emily Brontë, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Dorothy Parker, and Phillis Wheatley. These women wrote to change the world. They marched through the world one by one or in small sisterhoods, speaking to one another and to us over distances of place and time. Pushing back against the boundaries meant to keep us in our place, they carved enough space for themselves to write. They made space for us to follow. Here they are gathered together, an army of women who wrote an arsenal of words to inspire us. They walk with us as we forge our own paths forward.

Trauma is a serious public health problem worldwide and is the leading cause of death among adults and children. Physiotherapists play a key role in the interdisciplinary team caring for patients with physical injury after a traumatic event. The aim of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy in Trauma: An Evidence-based Approach is to encourage quality evidence-based physiotherapy management of adult and paediatric survivors of trauma in an acute care setting on a global level. The first edition of the book was written by South African physiotherapy academics and clinical physiotherapists with expertise in trauma care. This new edition involves the South African writers from the first edition as well as a team of international experts in trauma care across health care disciplines (including surgeons, nurses, occupational therapists, dieticians, pain experts, and social workers). The information shared in the first edition has therefore been updated with more clinical expertise and the latest available evidence. The new content in this latest edition aims to make physiotherapists more aware of the importance of considering how pain influences patients' participation in therapy sessions, and of a team approach to patient care (e.g. managing pain and planning of care) to ensure the best possible outcomes for adult and paediatric patients with traumatic injury, at hospital discharge.

Comedy starring Kevin James as Paul Blart, a good-natured, quiet-living man working as a security guard at a shopping mall having failed in his ambition to become a state trooper owing to his weight problem. When a gang of criminals disguised as Santa's helpers put the mall under siege and take hostages - including Paul's young daughter Maya (Raini Rodriguez) and the long-time object of his affections, Amy (Jayma Mays) - Paul takes matters into his own hands and becomes the unlikely hero of the day.
Double bill featuring two spoof comedies. 'Epic Movie' (2007) tells the tale of four fully grown orphans: one the victim of snakes that attacked her plane, another raised by a kindly Louvre curator, the third a Mexican 'libre' wrestling refuge, and the last an average mutant from an 'X'-community. When the curious quartet visits a sprawling chocolate factory, they stumble across a magical wardrobe which transports them to the enchanted land of Gnarnia. It seems that the wondrous fantasy land has recently fallen under the spell of the evil White Bitch (Jennifer Coolidge), and in order to bring peace back to Gnarnia these four bumbling mortals will have to join forces with a charismatic pirate, a painfully sincere group of aspiring wizards, and one particularly libidinous lion. 'Date Movie' (2006) stars Alyson Hannigan as a hopeless romantic who has finally met the man of her dreams Grant Funkyerdoder. But before they can have their 'Big Fat Greek Wedding', they'll have to 'Meet the Parents', hook up with 'The Wedding Planner' and contend with Grant's girlfriend, Andy, a spectacularly beautiful woman who wants to put a stop to her 'Best Friend's Wedding'. |
