When tremors start to shake the earth around them Walsh decides to investigate the history of the mountain to see if anything similar has been recorded there before. As he crosses paths with geologist Emily Allington (Hutton) who is also researching the mountain, they discover that it is not the mountain that is causing the tremors, but what lives inside it.
