Moving to the Positive Side (MTTPS) is an exploration of 26 of the most powerful dualities that affect our lives daily according to the side on which we choose to live. A duality is a concept of opposing principles, such as Charity/Greed, Forgiveness/Anger, Growth/Stagnation, etc. Each chapter has a famous quotation at the beginning and an affirmation at the end to guide the reader in grasping the content more fully. A meditation is also provided at the end of the chapter, which relates to that chapter's subject. The reader is encouraged to work on one duality set each week, moving from the negative to the positive. NOTE: The Quick-Read summary cards were not printed in the 2nd Edition, but the reader is not missing out on any important content. The summary cards were useful only as a practical guide.
A number of policy issues have direct or indirect consequences for the non-profit and charitable sector, including the establishment of a social innovation initiative, changes in the tax treatment of charitable donations, responses to the economic downturn, and health care reform. The non-profit and charitable sector represents a significant portion of the U.S. economy. This book provides a formal definition of the non-profit and charitable sector, its size and scope. Also explored are how charities are funded and an overview of the charitable sector's relationship with government and policy considerations.
