Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

Jefferson County was created in 1780. It was one of the first 3
counties created in Kentucky of which the other two were Fayette
& Lincoln. Jefferson County was created from Kentucky County,
VA. which in turn was created from Fincastle County, VA. Jefferson
county is located along the Ohio River in the North Central portion
of the state. It is the parent county in whole or part or:
Anderson, Bullett, Carroll, Franklin, Henry, Shelby, Spencer, and
Trimble counties. Even though this book does not have any general
history of the county, the reader will be delighted to find that
this volume contains 210 biographical sketches of individuals from
Jefferson County. The index mentions approximately 2,000 names.
