William S. Morgan, V, has deep roots in Central Florida spanning ten generations. His family came to the Pine Castle area south of Orlando in 1842, inspiring his passion for genealogy and local history. He has been recognized as a Florida Pioneer Descendant by the state's genealogical society and currently serves as chairman of Pine Castle Pioneer Days, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization that sponsors an annual festival to celebrate the community spirit that still thrives along the Conway Chain of Lakes. Morgan studied at Texas Tech University, the University of Central Florida, and Rollins College before going to work for his family's business in Orlando. He has published various articles and books on history and genealogy over the years, the most recent being "Like the Cats of Kilkenny: A True Story of the Civil War."
Like the Cats of Kilkenny recounts the Civil War experiences of the Morgan and Brown families from the perspectives of various family members. Their many adventures and misadventures take place on an amazingly broad stage and include brushes with notable figures like the noble Robert E. Lee and the notorious "Bloody Bill" Anderson. What makes their stories most intriguing, though, is that they are all true.
This is a new release of the original 1950 edition.
