Nicht nur die Begeisterung fur den HipHop ist den in dieser Studie untersuchten Jugendlichen aus Sao Paulo und Berlin gemeinsam. Als Schwarze bzw. als Jugendliche turkischer Herkunft sind sie in der Gesellschaft gleichermassen auch der Ausgrenzung und Diskriminierung ausgesetzt. Gegenstand der empirisch-qualitativen Untersuchung ist die asthetisch-musikalische Praxis der Jugendlichen und ihre stilistische Verortung innerhalb der HipHop-Bewegung. Dem HipHop kommt dabei eine besondere Funktion im praktischen Umgang mit Diskriminierung zu. In den Strategien, die die Jugendlichen zur Bewaltigung von Diskriminierung entwickelt haben, zeigen sich indes Unterschiede zwischen Sao Paulo und Berlin. Gerade wo solche Strategien nicht habitualisiert sind, konnen Diskriminierungserfahrungen den Jugendlichen zum Identitatsproblem werden"
