This is a comprehensive survey on the research on the parabolic Anderson model - the heat equation with random potential or the random walk in random potential - of the years 1990 - 2015. The investigation of this model requires a combination of tools from probability (large deviations, extreme-value theory, e.g.) and analysis (spectral theory for the Laplace operator with potential, variational analysis, e.g.). We explain the background, the applications, the questions and the connections with other models and formulate the most relevant results on the long-time behavior of the solution, like quenched and annealed asymptotics for the total mass, intermittency, confinement and concentration properties and mass flow. Furthermore, we explain the most successful proof methods and give a list of open research problems. Proofs are not detailed, but concisely outlined and commented; the formulations of some theorems are slightly simplified for better comprehension.

This Festschrift on the occasion of the 75th birthday of S.R.S. Varadhan, one of the most influential researchers in probability of the last fifty years, grew out of a workshop held at the Technical University of Berlin, 15-19 August, 2016. This volume contains ten research articles authored by several of Varadhan's former PhD students or close collaborators. The topics of the contributions are more or less closely linked with some of Varadhan's deepest interests over the decades: large deviations, Markov processes, interacting particle systems, motions in random media and homogenization, reaction-diffusion equations, and directed last-passage percolation. The articles present original research on some of the most discussed current questions at the boundary between analysis and probability, with an impact on understanding phenomena in physics. This collection will be of great value to researchers with an interest in models of probability-based statistical mechanics.

Inter-organizational Cooperation with SAP Solutions - now in its second edition -describes the potential for cooperation in supply chain networks as well as the use of mySAP solutions in an inter-organizational context. The main focus is on applications from the fields of XML/EDI, data warehousing, supply chain management and electronic markets. On the basis of five case studies from the automotive industry, the use of mySAP solutions is demonstrated in practice. This second edition has been totally revised to take account of current challenges concerning building up cooperation from both the management and the software perspective. In order to achieve this, the author team was expanded.

New information and communication technologies unquestionably brought about enormous changes that resulted in an ever-increasing networked society. Indeed, there is no area in the social and economic world which is unaffected by the recent advances. In response to these changes scientists from numerous disciplines teamed up in 1997 to lay a foundation for a common theory of networks. The objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind social, economic, technical and other kinds of networks in order to develop a unified theory of networks. Such a theory would then guide public and private decisions concerning the planning, operations and controlling of all kinds of networks. Probabilistic modeling and analysis of spatial telecommunication systems have never been more important than they are today. In particular, it is an essential research area for designing and developing next-generation communication networks that are based on multihop message transmission technology. These lecture notes provide valuable insights into the underlying mathematical discipline, stochastic geometry, introducing the theory, mathematical models and basic concepts. Der Berliner Mathematiker Karl Weierstrass (1815-1897) lieferte grundlegende Beitrage zu den mathematischen Fachgebieten der Funktionentheorie, Algebra und Variationsrechnung. Er gilt weltweit als Begrunder der mathematisch strengen Beweisfuhrung in der Analysis. Mit seinem Namen verbunden ist zum Beispiel die beruhmte Epsilon-Delta-Definition des Begriffs der Stetigkeit reeller Funktionen. Weierstrass' Vorlesungszyklus zur Analysis in Berlin wurde weithin geruhmt und er lehrte teilweise vor 250 Hoerern aus ganz Europa; diese starke mathematische Schule pragt bis heute die Mathematik. Aus Anlass seines 200. Geburtstags am 31. Oktober 2015 haben internationale Experten der Mathematik und Mathematikgeschichte diesen Festband zusammengestellt, der einen Einblick in die Bedeutung von Weierstrass' Werk bis zur heutigen Zeit gibt.
