This book extends the conventional two-dimensional (2D) magnet arrangement into 3D pattern for permanent magnet linear machines for the first time, and proposes a novel dual Halbach array. It can not only effectively increase the radial component of magnetic flux density and output force of tubular linear machines, but also significantly reduce the axial flux density, radial force and thus system vibrations and noises. The book is also the first to address the fundamentals and provide a summary of conventional arrays, as well as novel concepts for PM pole design in electric linear machines. It covers theoretical study, numerical simulation, design optimization and experimental works systematically. The design concept and analytical approaches can be implemented to other linear and rotary machines with similar structures. The book will be of interest to academics, researchers, R&D engineers and graduate students in electronic engineering and mechanical engineering who wish to learn the core principles, methods, and applications of linear and rotary machines.
Contains information for using R software with the examples in the textbook Sampling: Design and Analysis, 3rd edition by Sharon L. Lohr.
This book focuses on the basic theory and methods of multisensor data fusion state estimation and its application. It consists of four parts with 12 chapters. In Part I, the basic framework and methods of multisensor optimal estimation and the basic concepts of Kalman filtering are briefly and systematically introduced. In Part II, the data fusion state estimation algorithms under networked environment are introduced. Part III consists of three chapters, in which the fusion estimation algorithms under event-triggered mechanisms are introduced. Part IV consists of two chapters, in which fusion estimation for systems with non-Gaussian but heavy-tailed noises are introduced. The book is primarily intended for researchers and engineers in the field of data fusion and state estimation. It also benefits for both graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in target tracking, navigation, networked control, etc.
Driven by advanced CMOS technology, power management units, RF transceivers, and sensors, analog and mixed-signal circuits can now be fully integrated with VLSI digital systems for applications ranging from mobile, internet-of-things (IoT), wearable, and implantable medical devices. Evidently, the circuit- and system-level innovations have pushed the device performance boundaries to become orders of magnitude higher, whilst keeping the same or even lower power consumption.Selected Topic in Power, RF, and Mixed-Signal ICs provides a practical overview and state-of-the-art advancements on several selected topics in the areas of power, RF, and mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.Topics covered in the book include:• Very-High-Frequency DC-DC Switching Converters• Analog and Digital Low-Dropout Regulators• Analog and Digital Sub-Sampling Frequency Synthesizers• Hybrid ADC Architecture with Digital Assisted Techniques• CMOS Image Sensors and Their Biomedical Applications• CMOS Temperature Sensors• CMOS Millimeter-Wave Power Amplifiers• Zigbee/BLE Transmitter for IoT Applications
This book presents state-of-the-art analog and power management IC design techniques for various wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. To create elaborate power management solutions, circuit designers require an in-depth understanding of the characteristics of each converter and regulator in the power chain. This book addresses WPT design issues at both system- and circuit-level, and serves as a handbook offering design insights for research students and engineers in the integrated power electronics area.

Labor Activism and Colonial Governance in Hong Kong chronicles a long neglected yet formative social and political movement in Hong Kong between the 1930s and 1950s. Drawing upon a range of British and Chinese sources, the book reveals the complex links between labor activism, imperial reform, revolution, and the global Cold War to shed new light on colonialism and activism in modern China.
