This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Electronic Commerce, ISEC 2001, held in Hong Kong, China in April 2001.The eight revised full papers presented together with four short papers and two survey papers were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The book offers topical sections on secure payment, trust and security, tools for e-commerce applications, e-commerce frameworks and systems, performance and QoS, and e-commerce surveys.

This book constitutes a carefully arranged selection of papers presented at the Forum on Research and Technology Advances in Digital Libraries, ADL'95, held in McLean, Virginia, USA in May 1995.
Besides 15 revised refereed technical contributions, the book presents four invited survey papers by key persons heading institutions and projects essentially advancing the state of the art: France Cordova (NASA), James H. Billington (The Library of Congress), Raj Reddy (CMU), and Larry Smarr (NCSA, University of Illinois). The technical papers are organized in topical sections on visualization, document handling and information retrieval, network-based information and resource discovery, and design issues and prototyping.

This volume is the first book coherently summarizing the current issues in digital libraries research, design and management. It presents, in a homogeneous way, thoroughly revised versions of 15 papers accepted for the First International Workshop on Digital Libraries, DL '94, held at Rutgers University in May 1994; in addition there are two introductory chapters provided by the volume editors, as well as a comprehensive bibliography listing 262 entries.

This volume presents, in eight chapters contributed by leading experts from industry, academia and government, an unique overview of current research issues and applications in the evolving area of electronic commerce; it is based on a workshop held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland in December 1994.

This volume contains expanded and updated versions of papers presented at CIKM 92, the First International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management, held in Baltimore, Maryland, in November 1992. The conference participants came from the fields of database management, information retrieval, and artificial intelligence. A major theme in the volume is how these fields are merging and enriching each other. Theeight papers discuss: discovering context in a conceptual schema; a system for face information retrieval; queries in OODB systems; consistency checking in OODBs; integrity constraints representation in OODBs; a framework for temporal object databases; inductive dependencies and approximate databases; OODB design methodologies.

This book grew out of the First Symposium on the Personal Web, co-located with CASCON 2010 in Markham, Ontario, Canada. The purpose of the symposium was to bring together prominent researchers and practitioners from a diverse range of research areas relevant to the advancement of science and practice relating to the Personal Web. Research on the Personal Web is an outgrowth of the Smart Internet initiative, which seeks to extend and transform the web to be centred on the user, with the web as a calm platform ubiquitously providing cognitive support to its user and his or her tasks. As with the preceding SITCON workshop (held at CASCON 2009), this symposium involved a multi-disciplinary effort that brought together researchers and practitioners in data integration; web services modelling and architecture; human-computer interaction; predictive analytics; cloud infrastructure; semantics and ontology; and industrial application domains such as health care and finance. The discussions during the symposium dealt with different aspects of the architecture and functionality needed to make the Personal Web a reality. After the symposium the authors reworked their presentations into draft chapters that were submitted for peer evaluation and review. Every chapter went through two rounds of reviewing by at least two independent expert reviewers, and accepted chapters were then revised and are presented in this book.
