This book presents the best papers from the 2nd International
Conference on Mathematical Research for Blockchain Economy (MARBLE)
2020, held in Vilamoura, Portugal. While most blockchain
conferences and forums are dedicated to business applications,
product development or Initial Coin Offering (ICO) launches, this
conference focused on the mathematics behind blockchain to bridge
the gap between practice and theory. Blockchain Technology has been
considered as the most fundamental and revolutionising invention
since the Internet. Every year, thousands of blockchain projects
are launched and circulated in the market, and there is a
tremendous wealth of blockchain applications, from finance to
healthcare, education, media, logistics and more. However, due to
theoretical and technical barriers, most of these applications are
impractical for use in a real-world business context. The papers in
this book reveal the challenges and limitations, such as
scalability, latency, privacy and security, and showcase solutions
and developments to overcome them.

This book shares Chinese scholars' philosophical views on
artificial intelligence. The discussions range from the foundations
of AI-the Turing test and creation of machine intelligence-to
recent applications of AI, including decisions in games, natural
languages, pattern recognition, prediction in economic contexts,
autonomous behaviors, and collaborative intelligence, with the
examples of AlphaGo, Microsoft's Xiao Bing, medical robots, etc.
The book's closing chapter focuses on Chinese machines and explores
questions on the cultural background of artificial intelligence.
Given its scope, the book offers a valuable resource for all
members of the general public who are interested in the future
development of artificial intelligence, especially from the
perspective of respected Chinese scholars.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the International
Conference on Brain Informatics and Health, BIH 2015, held in
London, UK, in August/September 2015. The 42 full papers presented
were carefully reviewed and selected from 82 submissions. Following
the success of past conferences in this series, BIH 2015 has a
strong emphasis on emerging trends of big data analysis and
management technology for brain research, behavior learning, and
real-world applications of brain science in human health and
wellbeing.
"Some Chairs. Broken Chairs" is a 2013 memoir written by Yike Guo.
The Author describes in this memoir his own experiences in the most
recent two years participating in student conferences simulating
the working procedures, negotiations across Europe, notably Model
United Nations conferences (Model UN) and simulations of the EU and
NATO. He took various roles and travelled to a wide range of
countries, while managing to also study in his home town. He also
possesses a frevent interest in international relations, human
rights, diplomacy, art and cultures, among others. This memoir does
not only reflect moments that were daunting and frustrating, but
also those who were exceptionally rewarding and memorable. The
author decided to immortalize some of the prominent and best
moments in his life until then in this book. However, for many
reasons, though worked hard on it, he could not cover everything in
greater depth. The author provided more fragments of personal
collection full of memories, anecdotes and expositions, but also
some stories behind the scenes, expectations and realities,
comedies and tragedies, and about his job rather than a patterned
guidebook for everyone. Yike Guo wrote about some people who
inspired and changed him, and gave insights to people wishing to
find out more about what a Model conference is looking like, what
one could learn and which motivation he had. The memoir contains
also a great range of selections of position papers, articles and
post-conference reports by his friends presenting the readership a
different view than the authors own. Starting with his first
conference two years ago, the author mostly chronologically listed
his journeys and events and ended in April 2013, having gone and
thrived at some twenty of the most prestigious and meritorious
European conferences, projects and dialogues.
Fr hlingssanduhrmorgen.
