"Leadership from the Heart "is a 10-week study resource for small groups, designed to recruit active volunteers to step up and become lay leaders by promoting the concept of Servant Leadership .
Instead of the secular concept of leadership, which appeals to ego and ambition for power, "Leadership from the Heart "calls Christians to leadership by appealing to their desire to help others.
Participants are trained to Develop their own spiritual practices Care for those they lead Renew the church from within Grow to spiritual maturity

Each class session is built around - Head, Heart, and Hands.
Class content includes background material, group sharing, and action steps.
The issues covered throughout the series include servant leadership, spiritual disciplines, maturity, spiritual gifts, calling, God's purpose for your life, transformation of individuals and community, team building, and team leading.

Serving From the Heart for Youth is adapted from Church of the Resurrection's Serving From the Heart spiritual gifts program for adults. The adult program has helped over 40,000 people find their gifts, purpose, and passion to serve God through the church. Their first resource, Serving from the Heart: Finding Your Gifts and Talents for Service, guides participants to find their spiritual gifts as well as their passion and talent for ministry. In the second resource, Leadership from the Heart: Learning to Lead with Love and Skill, lay leaders continue their learning experience in ten areas of servant leadership.

Carol Cartmill is the Director of Leadership Development for The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. She and her team launched the spiritual gifts ministry in 1998. Carol has led workshops relating to equipping ministries on both the local and national level. She resides in Overland Park, Kansas with her husband Jim and their two teenage daughters.

Yvonne Gentile is Divisional Vice President of Merchandising for Helzberg Diamonds, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company. Since joining the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in 1996, she has used her passion for equipping and developing emerging leaders by serving on the Spiritual Gifts team, the Committee on Lay Leadership, and the
Strategy Team for Leadership Development. Yvonne and her husband Frank
live in Overland Park, KS.
