This Is A New Release Of The Original 1840 Edition.
1840. The text is purported to Being the Annals of that Province
from the Year of 290 of the Heg'ra to the Year 300 Extracted from
an Ancient MS. Ascribed to El Mas'Udi, belonging to the Ducal
Library of Saxe-Gotha. This period is remarkable for the subversion
of the dominion of the Aglabites and of the independent
principalities of Tahort and Seg'ilmasa, and for the establishment
of the Fatemite dynasty on their ruins, an important and obscure
era in Muhammedan history, and comprises almost the whole of those
events by which the first establishment of the Fatemites was
publicly marked, as it begins with nearly the earliest military
operations of Abu Abdallah, and closes with the foundation of el
Mahdia.
