Primary immunodeficiency diseases, first recognized 60 years ago,
are inherited disorders that affect human adaptive and innate
immunity. In most cases, affected individuals experience recurrent
infections, but they may also suffer from autoimmune diseases and
malignancies. This third edition of Primary Immunodeficiency
Diseases provides readers with the historic and scientific
background, clinical presentations, immunologic characteristics,
and the molecular/genetic underpinnings of this rapidly enlarging
class of diseases. With up-to-date diagnostic tools and therapeutic
options - from prophylactic anti-infective measures to
hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and gene therapy - this
volume will remain an authoritative resource on this increasingly
important area.

Three decades of dizzying change in China's economy and society
have left a tangible record of successes and failures. Less readily
accessible but of no less consequence is the story, as illuminated
in this book, of what China's reform has done to its people as
moral and spiritual beings. Jiwei Ci examines the moral crisis in
post-Mao China as a mirror of deep contradictions in the new self
as well as in society. He seeks to show that lack of freedom,
understood as the moral and political conditions for subjectivity
under modern conditions of life, lies at the root of these
contradictions, just as enhanced freedom offers the only
appropriate escape from them. Rather than a ready-made answer,
however, freedom is treated throughout as a pressing question in
China's search for a better moral and political culture.
Celebrated theologian, preacher and author C. I. Scofield explains
descriptions of Christian qualities in the New Testament, and the
Gospels of Christ in this excellent Bible study and devotional
book. In this superbly detailed examination of the New Testament,
Scofield demonstrates how dispensationalism can aid Christians in
receiving the true meaning of the scriptures. Making careful
distinctions between the gospels and the nature of Christian
belief, Scofield demonstrates how God divided the various gospels
over time, and explains how to distinguish between these divisions.
Throughout this work we observe how the author supports his words
with frequent quotations of the scripture. We learn how the
believer must act when adhering to Christ's teachings, and of how
the Christian may please God and receive his blessings. Holding to
beliefs in God in spite of life's trials, adhering to the
principles of moral virtue, and understanding the fundamental
truths of the Bible are emphasized.
