Consumers continue to rely heavily on their phones to complete such
tasks as transferring funds between banks or accounts, depositing
or withdrawing funds, paying bills, and purchasing items. Mobile
money users are oftentimes more financially resilient and can
protect themselves better against economic and other shocks.
Moreover, mobile money can increase the velocity of money in
circulation because it reduces the transactions and time costs of
making retail payments. As such, understanding the impact of mobile
payments is imperative for businesses and the economy. Impact of
Mobile Payment Applications and Transfers on Business is a pivotal
reference source that provides vital research on mobile money
transfer and its impact in social, corporate, and micro- and
macro-policies concerning the aggregate economy and individual
households as a whole within an economy. It covers the impact,
innovations, business-to-business transformations, regulatory
framework, challenges, and ethical issues surrounding mobile money
transfers around the world. This book is ideally designed for
economists, financial analysts, business managers, leaders,
scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students in fields that
include management, finance, economics, commerce, and leadership.
PTSD is a recently named psychiatric condition that unknown
before the publication of DSM-III in 1980. The creation of this
diagnosis was intensely controversial, and there continued to be
considerable reluctance to apply the term to children. The 1985
landmark volume, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Children, edited
by Spencer Eth and Robert Pynoos, helped establish the validity of
this condition during childhood. Now Spencer Eth has edited PTSD in
Children and Adolescents, a work that brings the field of childhood
trauma in to the new century by offering fresh insights on five
major topic areas in child and adolescent PTSD: - Techniques for
comprehensive evaluation -- details recently developed diagnostic
instruments and rating scales that measure the variety and severity
of traumatic symptoms in children and adolescents.- Forensic
aspects of traumatized children -- surveys legally pertinent
issues, including abuse, reliability of traumatic memories, and
credibility of child victims.- Juvenile offenders and incarcerated
youth -- examines the role of trauma in the lives of juvenile
offenders, noting that the victimization of delinquents must be
specifically addressed in order for an integrated approach to
treatment to achieve effective rehabilitation.- Biological
treatment strategies -- systematically reviews the important role
of medications for PTSD in clinical practice, including such topics
as biological dysregulation, target symptoms, and the inclusion of
drugs into the biopsychosocial treatment plan.- The relationship
between exposure to trauma in childhood and the development of
psychiatric disorders in adulthood -- presents current research on
the long-term prognosis of traumatized children and adolescents by
analyzing the association between early traumatic exposure,
biological substrates, and subsequent symptomatic morbidity.
Mental health practitioners and trainees, as well as attorneys,
pediatricians, and school personnel, will find this thoroughly
annotated volume an invaluable roadmap in their journey toward
understanding PTSD and discovering more effective treatments for
traumatized children and adolescents. With its eclectic perspective
and interdisciplinary format, this exceptional reference will also
enhance courses in developmental psychology, social work, and
education.

The central question animating Dieter Kienast’s anthology is:
"Where better can we practice attentive interaction with the
natural world than in its microcosm, the garden?" From the start of
his career as a landscape architect Kienast also wrote
prolifically. Once he intensified his collaboration with architects
and urban planners in the 1980s, his essays, commentaries, and
statements found their true subject: landscape architectural design
in the human habitat, beyond the ecological dogma of a supposedly
untouched and self-unfolding nature. Anyone looking for answers to
the fundamental questions of the designed environment that are both
profound and thought-provoking will enjoy this classic of
contemporary landscape architecture. A classic that has finally
been republished A collection of texts by one of the most important
thinkers in contemporary landscape architecture With an up-to-date
commentary on Kienast’s ideas and work by Prof. Udo Weilacher
Mwili, Akili Na Roho: Ten Figurative Painters from East Africa
features the work of ten artists from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania,
including Sam Ntiro, Elimo Njau, Asaph Ng’ethe Macua, Jak
Katarikawe, Theresa Musoke, Sane Wadu, Peter Mulindwa, Chelenge van
Rampelberg, John Njenga, and Meek Gichugu. The personal histories,
thematic concerns, and formal strategies of this multigenerational
group of artists present an opportunity to engage more deeply in
the genealogies of artistic creation in the region, while
considering the enduring influence of certain ideas and
institutions in the creation, dissemination, and reception of art
in and from East Africa. This catalogue is published to coincide
with an expanded version of Mwili, Akili Na Roho at the Nairobi
Contemporary Art Institute in 2022, following earlier iterations at
Haus Der Kunst in Munich (2020) and the Royal Academy of Arts in
London (2021).
The short intermezzo between the Great War and World War II and
especially the “roaring twenties†with their a thrill of speed
were a period of radical social change and artistic development,
and of vibrant metropolitan life and. Born into a merchant family
in the Swiss mountain canton of Glarus, Lill Tschudi (1911–2004)
moved to London in 1929 to educate herself at the Grosvenor School
of Modern Art. She flourished in the imperial capital and soon
gained wide recognition for her bold and often colourful modernist
linocuts. In the Anglo-Saxon world her reputation as an
accomplished printmaker has lasted and her works continue to fetch
good prices at auctions in Britain and Australia. New York’s
Metropolitan Museum of Art holds some 120 of her prints in its
permanent collection, while she has until to date never been
distinguished with a solo exhibition in a public museum in her
native Switzerland. This book, published to coincide with the first
such display at Graphische Sammlung ETH Zurich, features some 50 of
her unique linocuts. Designed as a proper picture book, it shows
her refined and expressive compositions with their captivating
narrative in full-page plates, which are supplemented by
informative essays. Text in English and German.
Mary Rose and Jo-Beth are sisters who hardly ever agree on
anything, but they both feel as if this night will never end. First
their car runs out of gas in an unfamiliar city and their father
goes in search of a gas station. Then Jo-Beth makes Mary Rose go
with her to find a bathroom and they stumble across a curious old
library. And then, worst of all, they get locked in! But their
troubles are just beginning. Is Jo-Beth right about the library
being haunted by banshees? Or is there a logical explanation, as
Mary Rose claims?
Between 2008 and 2014, ETH Studio Basel, under the guidance of
Roger Diener and Marcel Meili, has been investigating theprocess of
urbanisation taking place outside cities. Territory - in the
context of this investigation denotes both: the surroundings that a
city subsumes into its own structure and the core city itself,
which is the centre of this process of urbanisation, or
"confiscation". Investigated were six regions on six continents:
The Nile Valley with the dense corset of natural landscape
surrounding a linear city; Rome-Adria, where territorial cells have
formed within the territory, spawning an urban type of tremendous
dynamism; Florida, presenting highly complex patterns of
territorial organisation; Vietnam's Red River Delta, where recent
reform exposed traditional settlement and cultivation of the delta
to freer forces; Oman, where urbanisation of a territory
essentially means reclaiming the desert with the immediate
necessity to develop a system for water distribution; and Belo
Horizonte, where natural conditions likewise play a major role in
organising the territory as surface mining entails huge
transformations of the natural terrain. The new book features two
introductory essays on ETH Studio Basel's research approach and on
terminology, concise illustrated reports on the six regions, and
four concluding topical essays.
