Metacognition is a set of active mental processes that allows users
to monitor, regulate, and direct their personal cognitive
strategies. "Improving Student Information Search" traces the
impact of a tutorial on education graduate students problem-solving
in online research databases. The tutorial centres on idea tactics
developed by Bates that represent metacognitive strategies designed
to improve information search outcomes. The first half of the book
explores the role of metacognition in problem-solving, especially
for education graduate students. It also discusses the use of
metacognitive scaffolds for improving students problem-solving. The
second half of the book presents the mixed method study, including
the development of the tutorial, its impact on seven graduate
students search behaviour and outcomes, and suggestions for
adapting the tutorial for other users.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
Perhaps the brevity of short fiction accounts for the relatively
scant attention devoted to it by scholars, who have historically
concentrated on longer prose narratives. The Geographies of African
American Short Fiction seeks to fill this gap by analyzing the ways
African American short story writers plotted a diverse range of
characters across multiple locations-small towns, a famous
metropolis, city sidewalks, a rural wooded area, apartment
buildings, a pond, a general store, a prison, and more. In the
process, these writers highlighted the extents to which places and
spaces shaped or situated racial representations. Presenting
African American short story writers as cultural cartographers,
author Kenton Rambsy documents the variety of geographical
references within their short stories to show how these authors
make cultural spaces integral to their artwork and inscribe their
stories with layered and resonant social histories. The history of
these short stories also documents the circulation of compositions
across dozens of literary collections for nearly a century.
Anthology editors solidified the significance of a core group of
short story authors including James Baldwin, Toni Cade Bambara,
Charles Chesnutt, Ralph Ellison, Zora Neale Hurston, and Richard
Wright. Using quantitative information and an extensive literary
dataset, The Geographies of African American Short Fiction explores
how editorial practices shaped the canon of African American short
fiction.
As the world becomes more navigable, opportunities arise for people
to live in different countries and for students to study
internationally. Such capabilities require universities and other
institutions of higher learning to accommodate cultural diversity.
Promoting Ethnic Diversity and Multiculturalism in Higher Education
is an essential scholarly publication that examines the interaction
between culture and learning in academic environments and the
efforts to mediate it through various educational venues. Featuring
coverage on a wide range of topics including intercultural
competence, microaggressions, and student diversity, this book is
geared towards educators, professionals, school administrators,
researchers, and practitioners in the field of education.

"When?" explores many pressing questions about which prophecies
will be fulfilled before the Rapture. It explains the seven major
prophecies that have been fulfilled, the four that have begun
fulfillment today, and the fifteen other major prophecies that will
be fulfilled before the Rapture.
Bible students have tried to determine when the Lord will
return. Unfortunately, many have stumbled over the doctrine of
imminence-the idea that Jesus Christ could return at any moment. In
their search for "When?, " they have spent much time in futility as
Ponce de Leon did in his search for the fountain of youth which he
ultimately discovered did not exist. They, like him, have been led
astray by a doctrine that is not taught anywhere in sacred
Scripture.
As long as they keep looking for that elusive fountain of youth,
imminence, they will never be able to recognize the when because
they do not know the answer to what.
Until the answer to "what" is discovered, we will never know
when the Rapture may happen. "When?" examines both the when and the
what-helping you to know the warning signs of the approaching
Tribulation.
Smeared by cheap innuendo and false accusations alleging he is

Hurley, career law enforcement veteran, faces a dilemma as real as
his lifetime savings: bet everything that truth would win out in a
court of law or just surrender to that which he knows to be wrong.
Succumb or fight? Capitulate or resist?
"I Solemnly Swear" captures his answer to that dilemma and
presents a diverse group of heroes and traitors, lawmen and
outlaws, the innocent and the guilty who bounce between Seattle,
Larnaca, London, Washington, DC, Frankfurt, and Fort
Lauderdale.
In an international game of cat and mouse, Hurley spends his
last three years as a DEA Supervisory Special Agent being jerked
around by a media that is all too willing to criticize the US
Government and to mar Hurley's reputation as a competent
international narcotics agent. This is his story.
The cost to business of unresolved conflicts is high; tribunals,
loss of productivity, resignations and damaged reputations are
serious consequences for all concerned. With increased
organizational change in the form of changes in leadership,
restructuring, downsizing, matrix management, mergers, acquisitions
and systems changes comes increased political activity and the
potential for either increased learning and growth or tension and
unproductive conflict.
Change agents, HR practitioners and managers need to be skilled at
empowering others to use or resolve conflict effectively for a more
productive working environment and greater employee satisfaction.
Change, Conflict and Community takes readers through the essential
theory and hands-on practice of working with change and conflict by
considering:
* How we can increase our understanding of the tensions that often
exist when change is ever present in the organization
* How to work more effectively with the dynamic relationship
between change and conflict
* How the idea of "community" can help us to work with the energy
of change and human interaction
