Virtually all fiscal measures influence people's health, through
their impacts on behaviour, consumption, income and wealth. A
narrow subset of fiscal measures, however, can be more directly
aimed at improving health by targeting behaviours and risks that
are known to be strongly associated with health outcomes. The
purpose of this book is to discuss the subject of these measures,
which we define as 'health taxes'. The book aims to enumerate key
health taxes of interest, explore their positive and negative
effects, and how these effects are influenced by the design of
these taxes and the context in which they are applied. We ask how
and where they can be implemented. Critically, we build an argument
throughout the book for why policymakers across government should
care about health taxes.
When your heart gets broken, you can either stick around and
suffer through it, or get yourself gone. Alyson Mead decided to
move from New York to Los Angeles to take a job as a phone psychic
after a bad breakup. But as she struggles so accept her gift, while
dispensing love advice to daily callers, her own dating life proves
to be less than glamorous.
Searching for Sassy tells the true story of how a professional
psychic healed her heart and got back on track, while learning to
claim, appreciate, and develop her gifts. It's a rare and humorous
behind-the-scenes look into this billion-dollar industry, in a way
few have ever seen. Mead's path to healing may have been different
than most. But this book is for anyone who's ever felt a little
different, and maybe a tad challenged in the love department.

This book examines the debate over the proper connection in society between religion and public life, that took place in the fifty years following the American Revolution. Jonathan Sassi challenges the conventional wisdom, finding an essential continuity to the period's public Christianity. Most previous studies have seen this period as one of sharp disjuncture, in which the nation's cultural paradigm shifted from republicanism to liberal individualism.

This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the 21st
international conference on domain decomposition methods in science
and engineering held in Rennes, France, June 25-29, 2012. Domain
decomposition is an active and interdisciplinary research
discipline, focusing on the development, analysis and
implementation of numerical methods for massively parallel
computers. Domain decomposition methods are among the most
efficient solvers for large scale applications in science and
engineering. They are based on a solid theoretical foundation and
shown to be scalable for many important applications. Domain
decomposition techniques can also naturally take into account
multiscale phenomena. This book contains the most recent results in
this important field of research, both mathematically and
algorithmically and allows the reader to get an overview of this
exciting branch of numerical analysis and scientific
computing.
