Set over a 24-hour period, meet tiger sharks, lemon sharks, and
basking sharks in this kids' non-fiction book about the coolest
predators in the ocean. Dive under the sea to follow the lives of
individual sharks as they hunt, hide, and play their way through
their day. Shark conservationist Carlee Jackson cleverly weaves the
story from whale shakes to epaulette sharks (who hunt in rock
pools!) in the style of a nature documentary, including science
explanations perfect for future marine biologists. The book
encourages kids to look at sharks in a new light - not just
fearsome predators but endangered animals who play a key role in
the ocean's ecosystem.

It's very dark inside the homes of ants, bees, and termites - but
with the help of your 'magic' torch, you'll see how these creepy
crawlies live. Find out how ants organise their anthills, and learn
which jobs the queen, worker ants, and male ants do. Discover how
bees make honey in their beehives, and explore the earthy termite
mounds typically found in Africa, Australia, and South America.
This title is part of the My First Discovery paperback series - a
unique collection of beautifully illustrated information books for
children aged 4 to 7, with simple language to aid learning and
realistic artwork to inspire young minds. This edition contains a
paper torch at the back of the book, revealing hidden secrets on
the 4 darkened transparent pages and making the story come alive -
one detail at a time. With free access to a brand new audio app,
children can listen and read along at their own pace, page by page.
Raven's Roost is a story about Halloween. A mother and her three
children relocate to a small town on the eastern seaboard to be
closer to her parents and sister who live in the small town. It is
fall and Halloween is fast approaching. The relocated children
become friends with the two little boys who live next door to them.
The two little boys harbor a dark secret about the old house on top
of a hill called Raven's Roost. The two little boys have already
discovered a secret cave and tunnel under the old house and they
believe from what they have discovered that the house is haunted.
There is further evidence that something mysterious is going on up
at the old house and the children believe it is haunted. A
mysterious floating light appears sometime after dark and there are
sounds coming from the top of the hill that suggests a ghost does
live at the house. The children set out to discover exactly what is
going on up at the old house. On Halloween night they sneak off to
go up to the old 'haunted' house under the guise of trick or
treating the occupants of the house if there are any. Much to the
dismay of the children's parents, the children have found a gold
coin in the cave beneath the old mansion. The children's plot to
trick or treat the house goes awry when a monstrous form appears at
the house and an apparent ghost does appear during their Halloween
night trip to the house.

Indie Publishing Award, Juvenile Nonfiction. The oldest bird in the
world, documented with banding, is Wisdom, the Midway Albatross.
She was on Midway when the Japanese Tsunami hit and this is her
amazing story of survival of manmade and natural disasters for over
60 years. She has survived the dangers of living wild, plastic
pollution, longline fishing, lead poisoning, and the Japanese
earthquake. At 60, she's still laying eggs and hatching chicks.
It's a story of survival and hope amidst the difficulties of life.
In 2013, she hatched a new chick at the age of 62. The chick is
named Mana'olana, Hawaiian for Hope. Kitty Harvill's portraits make
this a biography in text and art.
The sky is splendid with fierce, clever and spectacular birds.
From the bitter cold polar regions to the lush tropics, birds have found incredible ways to adapt and survive anywhere. White-winged diuca finches nest high upon freezing glaciers and mightly peregrine falcons circle skyscrapers in busy cities. Look up!
What birds can do is extraordinary. The statuesque golden eagle spots prey from kilometres away. You can tell what time of day an owl hunts by looking at the colour of its eyes. With its long, muscular legs, the secretary bird has a powerful kick that is enough to kill large prey like snakes and hares.
Discover which bird is the fastest, the smallest, the cleverest, the most colourful and much more in this beautiful collection.
Written by television presenter and president of the RSPB, Miranda Krestovnikoff, and brought to life by celebrated artist and print maker, Angela Harding, RSPB Birds will amaze, intrigue and take your breath away.
