I have written the contents of this book over a period of several years. I have been extremely careful to not add or subtract God's word's as I do not believe in personal opinion. God's word convicts; I do not. You will enjoy its simple and understandable presentation.
The "God's Own Word" booklet series is intended to reveal only God's own Word on a particular matter. Each booklet provides a compilation of Biblical passages on a particular subject and categorizes those passages under a set of head-ings related to that subject. In addition, portions of each passage are highlighted in bold italics in order to point out the parts of the passage that are the most relevant to the subject. In this manner, the reader is instructed by God's own Word. I pray that these booklets may spiritually edify, exhort, and encourage your heart. Chapters include: Do Good to Those Who Mistreat You Love Your Enemies Maintain a Tender Heart and a Forgiving Spirit Rejoice When You Suffer for Christ's Sake Wait with Patience upon the Lord's Deliverance Trust the Lord to Repay Those Who Mistreat You

The value of this book is two-fold. First, it can be used to survey all the chapters of a given book in the Bible; and second, it can be used as a review of a given book, bringing to mind the contents of the chapters. For an example, in the entry under "Genesis 2" there is "More details on Creation; God creates man, woman and marriage." That can be used as a survey and/or a review. Also over 300 sentence quotes from the Bible and sermons under the chapter headings are an added blessing to this volume.

It does not matter what possessions you acquire, the position in life you attain for they are temporary but the wisdom of God is eternal. As Jesus said, "I can do nothing by myself, my Father who is with me does the work." As he shows me I can go and do likewise, so listen, go and do likewise.

Bunny Debarge, Sharon Ewell Foster, Claudia Mair Burney, and other women share their stories of abuse, betrayal, rape, abortion, and abandonment, giving readers permission to be honest about their own pain. The miracle of telling the truth allows the curtain of humiliation to be pulled back and expose secrets, breaking the power shame has over women. As readers come to understand the restoration and healing that happened when the contributors came to God and the truth, they will find their own courage and hope in the God of second chances. "Sistah" --a word often used to describe women of color--is used in this book to move beyond the boundaries of race, class, and faith to bring women of all colors together. . With true stories from more than twenty women, "SistahFaith" also includes original poems, fill-in-the-blank Bible study, reflection questions, prayers of proclamation, and scripture. In these pages, women will discover new friends--women who aren't afraid to be seen at their worst and who believe that true sistahs will still see the best in them. .
This new commentary will appeal particularly to those familiar with Professor Soggin's Introduction to the Old Testament and History of Israel who would prefer an alternative to the parallel work by J. L. Mays in the Old Testament Library. Written with the verve that the author brings to his other commentaries on Joshua and Judges, it offers a new translation of the text of Amos accompanied by two types of comment: first comes a critical philological account which justifies the rendering of the text adopted, and then, in a style familiar from the Old Testament Library, the main body of the commentary. J. Alberto Soggin is Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature in the University of Rome, Honorary Professor at the Waldensian Theological Seminary, Rome, and Visiting Lecturer at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome.
Growing up, author Sharon Sents knew that her mother had exactly the right thing to say for every occasion. Life brought many opportunities for the two of them to share daily lessons and words of wisdom. Many years later after Sharon joined a church and began to study the Bible in depth, she realized that her mother's words of wisdom were practical applications of advice and good counsel thousands of years old. Entertaining and effective, these are examples of how to use scripture in a context of modern life. Enjoy a cup of tea and relax with Sharon and her mother...and learn to share from heart and soul, one generation to the next. |
