More than ever before we need to rediscover -- or discover for the first time -- the skills and practice of listening. Kay Lindahl, founder of The Listening Center in California, guides readers through forty practices of deep listening -- to our Source, to ourselves, and to each other. Readers will learn to: Through Lindahl's inspiring text and Schnapper's contemplative artwork, readers will learn the three basic qualities of listening -- silence, reflection, and presence -- demonstrating that the key to healthy relationships, learning something new, and spiritual transformation is as fundamental as listening.
This book will answer all of your questions about the anointing. It will prepare you to experience the precious touch of God on everything you do. How can some ministers whose personal and spiritual lives are dried up and in shambles still operate in the anointing and continue to minister with power? Pastor Benny Hinn asked this question during a season of personal trial, and his quest led him to an in-depth understanding of the three “rivers,” or types, of anointing in Scripture: 1 John 2:27 (the anointing within you); Acts 1:8 (the anointing upon you); and Isaiah 10 (a global anointing related to building up and destroying nations). In Mysteries of the Anointing, Hinn explores these three types of anointing, sharing personal stories of things he learned firsthand from Kathryn Kuhlman and Oral Roberts, as well as providing biblical and historical examples that illustrate his teachings. Readers will discover:
Many of us end up in a net of misery at some point. The plans we made have collapsed, and our lives are falling apart. You have lost your partner, or your job, or your health has given in. You have lost the courage to keep living. A major crisis can, however, lead to inner growth and enrichment. In our Christian faith there is the comforting message of a net that has indeed broken: With the death of Jesus, free access to God was made possible to all. The price for human guilt has been paid so that all people can always approach God with courage and boldness. But the joy of the broken net can only be experienced by those who know of and acknowledge the net that holds them captive, one from which they cannot escape themselves. Only the humble can pray sincerely – and humility is the result of a healthy prayer life.
Dawid skryf in Psalm 119:103, “Hoe aangenaam is U Woord, soeter as heuning in die mond.”

A deeply personal true story of one man’s spiritual odyssey and the unflagging faith which enabled him to survive the ordeal that wrenched his body and spirit to near collapse. Captured by a Russian army during World War II and convicted of being a “Vatican spy,” Jesuit Father Walter J. Ciszek spent twenty-three agonizing years in Soviet prisons and the labor camps of Siberia. Only through an utter reliance on God’s will did he manage to endure the extreme hardship. He tells of the courage he found in prayer—a courage that eased the loneliness, the pain, the frustration, the anguish, the fears, the despair. For, as Ciszek relates, the solace of spiritual contemplation gave him an inner serenity upon which he was able to draw amidst the “arrogance of evil” that surrounded him. Ciszek learns to accept the inhuman work in the infamous Siberian salt mines as a labor pleasing to God. And through that experience, he was able to turn the adverse forces of circumstance into a source of positive value and a means of drawing closer to the compassionate and never-forsaking Divine Spirit. He Leadeth Me is a book to inspire all Christians to greater faith and trust in God—even in their darkest hour. As the author asks, “What can ultimately trouble the soul that accepts every moment of every day as a gift from the hands of God and strives always to do his will?”
When many Christians think about the second coming of Jesus, they imagine apocalyptic disaster, fear and terror, and world-collapse. But what if the second coming was more like a wedding than a catastrophe? If Jesus is returning as the Bridegroom, shouldn’t His Bride—the Church—focus more on deepening their commitment to Him than on comparing global events to last-days timelines? Burning with passion and zeal for Jesus, and driven by a vision to see the church revived, prophet and bestselling author, Jeremiah Johnson, offers a prophetic plea to the people of God: “Come to the altar! Purify yourselves for the coming Bridegroom!” In this timely prophetic message, The Altar shows you how to:
The Bridegroom is coming! Are you ready for the wedding day?

The Gospel of Thomas sheds new light on the origins of Christianity and portrays Jesus as a wisdom-loving sage. This collection of aphoristic sayings portrays the kingdom of God as a present fact about the world, rather than a future promise or future threat. Through facing-page commentary this edition focuses on the meaning of the sayings as those teachings were preserved by an ancient source outside of the canonical New Testament, and brings to life the challenging and intriguing figure of Jesus in a new light. Now readers can approach this important spiritual text with no previous background knowledge in Christian history or thought.

You have gifts! And you are a gift to the world around you. Because every human is fearfully and wonderfully made, each one of us has something to offer to the world. But we have not always identified or developed our gifts well, nor deployed them effectively. Don Everts explores the gifts God has given every person and what new research reveals about the difference those gifts can make for us, our churches, and our communities. Churches have unfortunately focused mostly on spiritual gifts and vocations within the church. But we don't always recognize the wide range of abilities, skills, and aptitudes that all of us have, whether civic, artistic, or entrepreneurial. We each have God-given gifts and are called by God to use them in our vocations in the world. Discover how our gifts are a blessing to others and pave the way for reconnecting with our surrounding communities.
The Power and Freedom of a Humble Life Pride is often the true reason why we get our feelings hurt, why we feel rejection, why we won't admit to mistakes, why we want to be seen with certain people, and why we stay angry. Jesus gives us the perfect example of a powerful life lived without conceit, smugness, or arrogance. So why do we not want to admit to our pride? It is because of our pride! In The Power of Humility, R. T. Kendall challenges us to look deeply into our hearts and motives to recognize the pride and self-righteousness there. Using personal stories and enlightening examples from the Bible, he demonstrates how pride interferes with a close relationship with God and reveals how to overcome pride and become more like Jesus.
On November 7, 1993, Marion Woodman was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Here, in journal form, is the story of her illness, her healing process, and her acceptance of life and death. Breathtakingly honest about the factors she feels contributed to her cancer, Woodman also explains how she drew upon every resource-physical and spiritual-available to her to come to terms with her illness. Dreams and imagery, self-reflection and body work, and both traditional and alternative medicine play distinctive roles in Woodman's recovery. Her personal treasury of art, photographs, and quotations-from Dickinson to Blake to Rumi-embellish this unique chronicle of a very personal journey toward transformation.
Throughout his ministry, Andrew Murray passionately prayed and taught people about prayer. In this volume he combines his devotional writing with his only study guide on prayer: "Pray Without Ceasing." His simple but profound goal is teaching Christians how to change the world through the powerful ministry of intercession.
Get Your Foundation Right—Then Build Toward the Sky! A building contractor has a top priority every time he begins a construction project: to get the foundation right. He knows that’s the key to the stability and endurance of the structure he is building. If his crew lays the foundation wrong, the rest of the building might ultimately look good—but it will always have problems and will possibly never fulfill its purpose for being constructed in the first place. That same principle is true as you build your life in Christ. You will never build strong or last long in your quest to fulfill what God has put you on the earth to accomplish unless you first focus on laying your spiritual foundation on the rock-solid truths of His Word. In this book, author Rick Renner provides the scriptural “mortar and brick” that defines the six fundamental doctrines listed in Hebrews 6:1,2—precisely the ingredients you need to lay a sound and stable foundation for the structure called your life in Christ. Do you recognize a need to fortify your foundation? If so, you’re holding a mighty tool in your hands right now that will help you do just that. The rich truths found within these pages will strengthen your foundation so it can hold you steady and stable as your life grows into a mighty edifice that displays God’s glory and power—just as He has always intended!
In our busy lives we often sideline prayer and spiritual practice, or wrap the subject up in a tangle of guilt-driven showmanship and ‘self-motivation’. Stripping away the jargon that we can often get caught up in, NAKED SPIRITUALITY presents the core concepts of prayer in a fresh and accessible way. Brian D. McLaren has spent years working with these concepts in his own life and shares candidly his own experiences and insights as well as challenge in this very applicable book. Using twelve words as a structure, he shows how we can connect with God in practical, doable and durable ways, and use that connection to serve others.
RESPECT, TRUST, COMMITMENT. These are the cornerstones of a dedicated relationship between a teacher and a student. For a passionate student yearning to learn and understand the essence of a subject, they must demonstrate these traits before a teacher will take them under their wing. In this case, the teacher was Thomas Troward of Cornwall England and the student was Genevieve Behrend. Not long after her time with Troward, Behrend began her mission in New York City where she established and headed The School of the Builders up until 1925. She then established another school in Los Angeles before touring other major cities throughout North America for the next 35 years as a celebrated lecturer, teacher, and practitioner of Mental Science. Behrend presents the Troward philosophy at its best because of the way her incomparably direct, and dynamic personality relates the life-changing concepts on a personal level. Now it's up to you to respect, trust, and commit.
A commemorative edition of the work that inspired Martin Luther King Jr. and helped shape the civil rights movement. In this beautiful gift edition of the classic theological treatise, complete with a place-marker ribbon and silver gilded edges, celebrated theologian and religious leader Howard Thurman (1899–1981) revolutionizes the way we read the gospel. Thurman lifts Jesus up as a partner in the pain of the oppressed and reveals the gospel as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. In this view, the example of Jesus’s life shows us that hatred does not empower—it decays. Only by recognizing fear, deception, contempt, and love of one another can God’s justice prevail. With a new foreword by acclaimed womanist theologian Kelly Brown Douglas, this edition of Jesus and the Disinherited is a timeless testimony of faith that demonstrates how to thrive and flourish in a world that attempts to destroy one’s humanity from the inside out. Having witnessed firsthand the depths of white supremacy and the heights of human civility, Thurman reiterates the inherent dignity of all of God’s children.
